Trail News & Information

Geo Trail ribbon cutting

Klamath Falls welcomed a new trail with a celebratory ribbon cutting and community walk on July 19.
The new Geo Trail sits above Sky Lakes Medical Center and Oregon Tech and is easily accessible for those new to getting out and walking, running or hiking. It is the first sanctioned trail on that side of town.
Sky Lakes led the effort to build the trail, along with Oregon Tech and KTA.  The ribbon-cutting event was hosted by Sky Lakes Wellness Center and Blue Zones Project Klamath Falls.
Local companies Diversified Contracting and Rhine Cross Engineering donated in-kind work. KTA members Justin Rodriguez designed the trail and Mark Goodman made maps displayed at the kiosk. Randall Pope designed and built benches at the trailhead.
Volunteer’s Needed for Crater Lake Century Bike Ride - Aug. 19th

The Crater Lake Century is right around the corner and we need a few more volunteers to help put on this amazing event. The Crater Lake Century is a benefit ride with proceeds going to KTA, the Klamath-Lake Counties Food Bank and the Klamath County Museum.  Please consider helping.

Event Day Volunteer Positions Needed for Aug. 19th:

  • Parking (2) – directs parking in an orderly manner.  Shift 5:45-8:00 am.
  • Start & Finish Crew (8) - parcels riders out in groups of no more than 15, checks off bib numbers and gives a short safety talk.  The finish crew welcomes riders home and tracks bib numbers so there is an accurate count of riders still on the course.  Shifts 6-9 am, 9-12 pm, 12-4 pm.
  • Sag Stops (20) - join us at one of our four rest stops, setting up tables, preparing and serving food and drinks.  Shifts range from 3-5 hours starting at 7 am and ending at 4 pm.
  • Clean-Up (3) – help tear down tables, garbage pick-up.  Shift 5-7:30 pm.

Check out the Meetup page for more information, or contact Zach at 541-331-5247 or zach@zachsbikes.com if you can help.

Moore Mountain Runs (MMR)

The Moore Mountain Trail Fest & MMR is back again, and this year with a new event: a 30k race!

The trail run includes the traditional 5k and half marathon, but this year organizers added the 30k to entice more long-range runners to the event.
The event also includes the Trails in Motion Film Festival at the Ross Ragland Theater the night before to get everyone psyched up for the races.

The Ultrasignup page about the event states: The Moore Mountain Runs (MMR) are Klamath County's premiere trail running event and boast one of the best half-marathon and 30k trail courses in the Pacific Northwest. More than 80 percent of the courses are on high quality single track and include sweeping views of Upper Klamath Lake and Mt. Shasta. The 5k is fun and technically challenging with minimal elevation gain.
