Exploring the Great Choral Masterworks with CONCORA and Chris Shepard

Choral singers from across the region will join the professional vocalists of CONCORA on Saturday, August 5, at 4:00 PM, to present a concert of classical choral masterworks at Bethany Covenant Church in Berlin, CT. The concert, conducted by CONCORA’s Artistic Director Chris Shepard, is the culmination of CONCORA’s 19th annual Summer Festival, a week-long gathering dedicated to exploration and enjoyment of beautiful choral music. The 105-voice Summer Festival Choir, which includes singers from six states, will present favorite excerpts from masterworks by Bach (Saint Matthew Passion and Magnificat), Handel (Zadok the Priest), Mozart (Requiem), Haydn (Creation), Beethoven (Mass in C), Vivaldi (Gloria), Brahms (Requiem), Mendelssohn (Elijah), Rossini (Petite Messe Solennelle), and Fauré (Requiem).
The vocal soloists, drawn from CONCORA’s professional roster, include Stacey Grimaldi and Jennifer Ferrand-Kelly, sopranos; Cynthia Mellon, mezzo-soprano; Mark Child and Peter Perkins, tenors; and Patrick Nay, Edward Tyler, and Alexander Patrie, bass-baritones. Pianist Allan Conway is the featured accompanist.
Tickets for the August 5 Festival concert are just $10-$30 and are on sale now at CONCORA's secure ticket site and will also be available at the door. Seating begins at 3:15 PM.
