Good evening!

I hope you are all preparing for a wonderful weekend!  It is school holidays here in the UK, so Mr Lookatwhatimade and I have been spending a lot of time entertaining the boys with various activities.  So far my favourite activities have been a family painting session and a trip to the Imperial war museum.

As you can see, I am no Picasso, but the men in my life were born to paint!

I managed to publish two posts this week, which is something I am quite proud of after the drought of the last month (but oh when you see what I have been doing behind the scenes!!!).

Shall I give you a little sneak peek?  Go on, then!

The first post I shared was a review of Tamara Kelly's book Quick Crochet for the home.  The patterns are indeed quick, and easy without being boring.  In fact, I learned a few fun techniques playing around with various swatches from the book before deciding to make the Around the Table Trivet (pictured below).  You can read my review HERE.

I have been a fan of Tamara's Blog, Moogly, for years.  Her tutorials and patterns are easy to follow, and her designs are gorgeous.  One of the highlights of my year is seeing the annual Moogly CALs come together.  I always look forward to seeing which designers are participating and what their squares will look like.

When Tamara asked me if I would like to be one of the featured designers in 2015, I almost fell off my chair with excitement.  I couldn't believe that she had asked me.  Once it sank in, I was more nervous than excited.  I ended up designing Esme's Winter Cottage, which was featured as Block 17 of the Moogly CAL 2015.  This square has since been used as part of the Nuts About Squares CAL as well, so my nerves have recovered :)

When Tamara asked me to participate again in 2016, I was equally excited (but a lot less nervous)!  I had been playing around with Really Lazy Popcorns, and couldn't resist using them in the pattern.  Wishing Well was featured as Block 14 of the Moogly CAL 2016.

The squares for this year's Moogly CAL are stunning, and the colours Tamara has chosen for her version of the squares are happy and bright... right up my alley!  Of all the squares, Laurinda Reddig's Sunflower Square has been my favourite.  Which one is your favourite?

My second post of the week was a Show and Tell of my Namaqualand blanket made in Colour Crafter Velvet.  Although the colours are similar to the original (HERE), the shades are slightly different, and it has a rich Autumnal feel.  Yarn packs are available in my Wool Warehouse Shop, and you can read more about this version (including where to find the free pattern) HERE.

One last thing before I go:  I designed the Midnight Garden Lapghan for Yarn 2 ages and ages ago.  I realised that I'd never gotten around to telling you about it, so I have written a post about my Midnight Garden journey (and Mr Lookatwhatimade's involvement).  You can read all about it HERE.

Sidekick Jenny has finished her first Sophie in Scheepjes Whirl and is already working on her second.  We've been making notes along the way (tips and suggestions), so I will be doing a post about that next week.  In the meantime, you can see her completed Whirling Sophie HERE on Ravelry.

Have a wonderful weekend!
