Greetings From O’Brien Guitars

I have returned from the Guild of American Luthiers Convention in Tacoma, Wa. It was great rubbing shoulders with some of the best in the business and exchanging information. Look for my lectures in upcoming editions of American Lutherie magazine.

Upon my return I immediately got started editing the Ukulele Building Course I filmed with Canadian luthier, Heidi Litke, of Red Sands Ukuleles. I have made good progress so far and should be able to make this course available via my online courses page of my website in the very near future. Many of you have been anxiously awaiting this course and you will not be disappointed.

This week the annual Rocky Mountain Guitar Camp begins. This year's all star lineup of instructors includes Pat Bergeson, John Knowles, John Jorgenson, Jim Nichols and Richard Smith. This camp is becoming quite popular and due to its limited number of students accepted, fills very quickly.  If you are in the area, there is a free concert tonight, Sun. Aug. 6,  at 7:30 at the YMCA in Estes Park, Co.

As if that were not enough guitar for one week, the annual Guitar Town event at Copper Mountain, Colorado is August 11-13. This free weekend of live music includes some of the best players in the world. This year's performers includes Zakk Wilde and Tommy Emmanuel, among many others.  On Friday afternoon, Aug. 11,  from 3-5, I will be doing a workshop along with fingerstyle guitarist Jim Deeming. I hope to see some of you there.
This past week I received a video from an online student of mine in Minnesota. He built an "all Minnesota guitar" following my online instructional video course.
This week I also launched another one of my popular Luthier Tips du Jour videos. This one is on how to get that showroom shine after final buffing of your guitar. This video series has become quite popular over the years and has over 6 million views on my Youtube channel. All of these videos, as well as many others are available on my video page of my website. There is a drop down menu on the video page that allows you to choose among video categories I offer on my website.
If you are interested in learning to build guitars or just want
to see how I build my guitars then schedule a class with me.
If you are in need of a concert quality classical or steel string
guitar then let me know as I would love to build a guitar for you.

Thank you,
