Out speaker this month will be Hayna Pittman from Delta Youth. Delta Youth provides education, community, and empowerment for queer youth in the Delta of Durham, Orange, and Alamance counties. They’ll be speaking about self-care - as we work to make the world a better place, or to take care of those around us, it’s really easy to forget to take care of ourselves too. They’ll share some strategies for self-care with us, as well as telling us more about Delta Youth’s mission. And as always, we'll be taking part in community-building and song!

- Trivia Night, Wednesday, August 16th - Tomato Jakes: Trivia! Food! Fun! Join us and bring your trivia knowledge - expert level not required.
- Conversation Group, Thursday, August 24th, Durham Southwest Regional Library: A continuation of the topic we started at July meeting on Meaning of Life. All are welcome to join in this discussion, whether you have attended before or will be joining us for the first time.
- Paperhand Puppet Intervention Show, Sunday, August 27th - Forest Theater: Paperhand Puppet Intervention presents its 18th annual giant puppet theatre pageant “OF WINGS AND FEET". Join us for a whimsical, paradoxical juxtaposition of myriad forms and flights of fancy. Everything moves! And yes, we move. Forward hopefully.
- Carolina Skies at Morehead Planetarium, Sunday, Sept 3 - Who wants to fly through our galaxy and learn about local constellations? I know I do! This dome theater show is for all ages, so bring the kids.

Help Out!
Want to help out your assembly? Let us know! You can reply to this email to get in touch with the organizational team. Or you can join the Friends of Sunday Assembly List or the Friends of Sunday Assembly Facebook Group for a monthly call for hosts, readers, and other helpers.
- Ideas for speakers, readings, or songs - the organizing team are happy to find speakers, readings, moments of science, or themes for an assembly, but we're even happier to include your ideas. The more voices that are heard on stage, the better!
- Hosts, readers, or singers - make your voices heard in a very literal way by getting up on stage. Don't worry, Sunday Assembly members make the most supportive audience ever!
- Greeters or welcomers - we can always use help getting people oriented when they come in. We also like to have designated people to introduce themselves to newcomers and help them feel welcomed.
- Setup or breakdown volunteers - those chairs won't unfold themselves!
- Snack-bringers - bring along something healthy and/or tasty to share with everyone.
