Well, the latest workshop is underway and the next one is already booked out so I can have a rest now and wait for the newest and last for the year to come out in the new QQ magazine so don’t forget to read the mag.
Did you get to the Tentmakers exhibition? I hope so. 385 people were there! Most quilts sold very quickly and the men were very happy. Jenny Bowker’s talk was amazing and in some ways incredible. The local Egyptians don’t even know about the Tentmakers. It is their overseas contacts that are giving them a new lease on life. You can Google them and come up with different links to their sites. They are all informative and heartwarming.
I would like to send out thanks to many. There was a team of people who turned up on the afternoon of the exhibition to help with setting up, preparations and the running of the evening. Lesley Clugston and her husband, Jenni Anning, Cathie Gamble, and The Tentmakers themselves were all instrumental in setting up the quilt stands, members of the committee who took the door money and handled the sales, all of the committee who made the supper, Gwen Parry and Lesley Warren who organised the supper with help from more committee members, and all other people who came to help in any way – A very big thank you to you all. We could not have done it without you.
Thank you also to those who came to the workshops. What an amazing time you all had and there was not one person whose life and vision of applique did not change in that class. And to the 385 people who came to see the show – what a turn up!! Thank you for coming. I do hope you enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed getting it together for you.
One last thing – would all the people who bought a Tentmaker quilt please bring them to sewing day or night in August. They will make a stunning Show and Tell, and give a small taste to those who simply couldn’t come.
Till next time,
Kerry Moore.
