UW named to Green Honor Roll for 7th straight year

UW Green Honor Roll

The University of Washington has been named to The Princeton Review’s Green Honor Roll for the seventh consecutive year. The Green Honor Roll honors schools who receive a perfect score on The Princeton Review’s Green Rating system. the UW was one of 24 colleges and universities to receive the award this year out of 629 schools reviewed.

West Campus Utility Plant earns Envision Gold sustainability rating

West Campus Utility Plant

The University of Washington's new West Campus Utility Plant (WCUP) has received an Envision Gold award from the Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure (ISI). The Envision system rates sustainable infrastructure projects across the full range of environmental, social, and economic impacts. The WCUP is the first certified Envision Gold project at any higher education institution.

SustainableUW Festival

The 2017 SustainableUW Festival takes place in October as part of the national Campus Sustainability Month. The festival's centerpiece event, the Sustainability Exhibitor Fair, will be held in UW's wǝɫǝbʔaltxʷ – Intellectual House on Wednesday, Oct. 25, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Information on all festival events will be posted at green.uw.edu/festival as it becomes available.

UW joins nationwide climate change pledge

The University of Washington is one of more 1,000 universities, businesses, cities and states from across the country to sign the "We Are Still In" letter declaring continued support for climate action and reducing carbon emissions despite the absence of leadership from the federal government.
Green Certification Workshop Wednesdays

UW Sustainability holds Green Certification workshops the first Wednesday of each month. Everyone is welcome to join to learn more about our Green Office and Green Laboratory certification programs - we'll have a brief presentation, answer questions about the certification application, walk through available resources to help make your workplace more sustainable and reduce costs by conserving resources, and we'll provide support for filling out the application.
The next Workshop Wednesday will be Sept. 6 at 1:30pm in Gerberding Hall room G26. Find event details on the Sustainability Events Calendar, or for more information email sustainability@uw.edu

CSF breaks $2 million mark in student grants

CSFThe Campus Sustainability Fund (CSF) awarded a total of $589,666 to 23 projects throughout the 2016-2017 academic year, the largest amount the CSF has allocated in any single year. The record-breaking number of student sustainability grants included the largest single project in CSF history - $150,000 toward solar power installations on the new Life Sciences Building. The CSF has awarded more than $2.2 million to 107 projects since it was created in 2010.

The University of Washington is committed to decreasing paper usage, while moving to make sure the paper we do use is 100% recycled. Reducing paper use and converting paper purchases to 100% recycled paper saves your department money and contributes to a more sustainable campus.
