VERSE OF THE WEEK

A happy heart makes the face cheerful, but heartache crushes the spirit.

~Proverbs 15:13

JOURNAL CHANGE

Along with CSLA's new logo, the Journal is undergoing some changes as well. In addition to a fresh new look, we are using a new email client, and will offer a subscription option for those who still want to receive regular, but less frequent, updates.  This new publication, the C.S. Lewis Chronicle, will debut as a quarterly publication in September.

SCHOOL UPDATE

Happy August everyone.

We hope you are having a lot of fun and getting lots of rest this summer.  We continue to fine-tune the facility for your arrival in August/September.

You may have heard our high school lead teacher, Carrie Adams, has been called by the Lord to teach Bible full time at Westside Christian High School. This has been a subject near and dear to her heart and when the opportunity presented itself Carrie accepted. We will dearly miss her on campus, but knowing God called her we are assured she will be successful in her new endeavor.

The High School team, along with Mr. Swanson, is assessing the the strengths of each remaining teacher to determine what calling the Lord has on them moving forward. Rest assured our school will be strengthened and prepared for the first day of classes.

WATCHMEN WISHLIST

As we move into 2017-18, we want to provide potential donors with a list of needs for our school.  The list is not prioritized in any way.  More information about each can be obtained by contacting Steve Wallo at steve.wallo@cslewisacademy.com
  • FINANCE OFFICE: Two 24" or 25" monitors
  • PRAISE BAND: Drum cage
  • 5th GRADE: ACSI Spelling Books, $200
  • FACILITY: Two permanent mount large fans for gym, $1600
  • Middle School:  Full Social Studies Curriculum
  • School-wide: 2-3 classroom sets of Chromebooks (approx. $2,000=$2,500 per classroom set)

VARSITY ATHLETICS AWARD NEEDS

We would like to start celebrating our high school student-athletes and their accomplishments more!  To that end, there are 3 projects we are trying to complete.  We are looking for donors to help with the costs of these projects either in part or in total.

1. Perpetual Plaques: each year, each varsity team selects a recipient of the Watchmen Award, Most Improved and Most Valuable.  These honorees are given a medal.  In the case of our Fall Sports, we have perpetual plaques that honor these winners.  For the rest of our sports, we would like to order these perpetual plaques.  We need plaques for Boys Basketball, Girls Basketball, Boys Track & Field, Girls Track & Field and Golf.  To take care of all three awards for a single sport, the cost would be $250.

2. Gym Award Banners: These are team award banners for championships, state tournament qualification, sportsmanship and scholar-athlete recognition.  They are "add a year" style so we can add to them as we accomplish even more!  This will include our new logo. We currently have 7 banners we want to order at $250 each.

3. Track & Field Records board:  We would like to display our varsity Track & Field school records in our gym.  This will include new logo.  $1,200 total for boys and girls.

BUY-A-BRICK DEADLINE EXTENDED

We are now taking orders for our Buy-A-Brick campaign until Monday, August 14.

The bricks, located under the flagpole at the entrance of the school, are a great way to memorialize support for the school while honoring someone. The newly purchased bricks will be engraved a few weeks after the deadline.  More information and photos are located here:  BUY-A-BRICK program.
