Warmest greetings for this cold season! Calm in the City resumes weekly meditations every Thursday until the end of the year - and for the next couple of weeks (starting this Thursday), meditations will be beside the Leempeeyt Weeyn' campfire at Federation Square. We hope that you can join us 8.00 - 8.30am for an energising way to start to the day!
From Mindfulness to Meditation...
This year we contributed a guided meditation to the successful global meditation campaign 'Mindful in May' by Dr Elise Bialylew.
As promised, please find our commentary here - it's 17 minutes long - but can be listened to in two sittings - so create some quality time and space - and we hope that you enjoy it.
Stop Still for Peace on the UN Day of Peace
For the UN International Day of Peace on Thursday 21st September, we will be inviting you to Stop Still for Peace - your peace, our peace, world peace for 21 minutes on that day - wherever you are. We'll be inviting you to hold your own event (and we will be providing three specially recorded meditations that you might like to use - each 7 minutes long on the self, the community and our world). You will have an opportunity to advertise your event on the event website also. More details will follow in a few weeks.
We also invite you to let us know what you are doing for that day in Melbourne - and we will put your events out in our newsletter and on the specially created website for the UN Peace Day this year (coming soon!). Of course, we will also be gathering in the Square at Federation Square - more details soon.
Whatever we do, as in the past couple of years for the Wake Up for Peace events, we hope that we all come together as one community - whoever and wherever we are - and create powerful thoughts and intentions of peace for ourselves and our world - together.
We also thank and welcome the offers that have come in recent months to cooperate on initiatives for UN Peace Day.
Calm in the City is a not-for-profit venture which listens and engageswith the city communities to bring calm into the heart of the city.
