Newsletter - August 2017

State Deputy - Marty McCoy  (greetings from the Supreme Convention)
The Indiana delegation sends best wishes to all our Brothers and families back in Indiana from the "Show Me" State of Missouri! We are just beginning the opening session now, and have our entire delegation present as this is an "Open" session.
We all have taken in a bit of the history St. Louis has to offer, and was pleasantly surprised it offered us so much!
The EWTN Network is telecasting the convention and if you have time to take any of it in, please do. There will be lots of good information to be had as we go forward in our fraternal year.

If you are listening to any of the Masses, you will hear your State Deputy doing the lecturing for Thursdays Memorial Mass for all departed Brother Knights. Have been busy otherwise with practice as well as the Chairman for the Mileage committee here this year! So the Supreme Officers are getting their Mileage out of me this year!!

Thank you all for your service to the Indiana jurisdiction, we will all work for success this year at all levels. If we commit ourselves to the time investment, and utilize the tools we have available to us, as well as leaning on your DMPD's and other Directors, Chairman and Officers, one should only wonder HOW successful we can be!!

Brother Knights,
Welcome to a new and exciting 2017 – 2018 Fraternal Year!  Let’s make this a successful year and get your council to STAR!  STAR councils grow in membership and that means more help with the great programs and activities the Knights and their councils participate in.

I would like to welcome our new District Deputies, Grand Knights, and Council Officers, congratulations on stepping up to lead your councils.
I would also like to welcome our new State Youth Director – Chris Earnhart who will be a great asset to our State Program Team of Directors and Chairmen.  Please contact him if you need assistance with your Youth Programs at Youth@Indianakofc.org.

What a great time to be a Knight!  As our new year begins, our emphasis on "Building the Domestic Church" requires spiritual leadership in our families and councils. This is the time to plan the direction of your council.

Community Director
Thanks to Council 3631, Marquette Council, Griffith, for hosting a flag retirement ceremony along with several boy scouts in honor of Flag Day.
Great work by Council 5521, Ave Maria, South Bend for their assistance constructing a new Habitat for Humanity home.  They are now experts in vinyl siding.
LOOKING AHEAD:
Did you know many children throughout the United States and Canada go without a coat each winter? Many low-income families use their scarce resources to meet the most basic essentials and they need help to provide this vital winter necessity.
That’s why the Knights of Columbus developed the Coats for Kids program . . .

Vocations Chairman
Welcome to the new officers of all councils. I hope that each council has appointed a vocations chairman.  This is an important council activity and needs to be promoted vigorously to council members and your community. Let’s finish the new fraternal year with record donations for the vocations with very council in Indiana contributing.

New Program – RACE FOR VOCATIONS
Please read the flyer that your District Deputy will give each council. We will have it posted on the State website for reference. The State Council is asking all Councils to participate and support this worthy cause. It is another form of supporting vocations.
