Wisdom of Salmon

I have been very open about multiple things happening and going on around me. One of the main things I do is take all of my experiences that happen to me, and reflect on them as teaching lessons. Sandra Ingerman always says that your microcosm reflects your macrocosm. So obviously if something is out of balance in the world I am seeing around me, that is another chance for me to dive deeper into myself and transform a stuck aspect that has been challenging on an interpersonal level.
This month we have a few astrological components that set up the energy of the month. We have a full moon with a partial lunar eclipse on this coming Monday, and then we have a full solar eclipse happening on the new moon at 2:30pm, Saturday, August 21st. Before I spill into this mumbo jumbo - how does it relate to you? If you're interested in reading more about how this energy can affect you, you can read the Power Path Forecast which goes into more depth on this subject. Otherwise, the basis of this means that it is a very potent time to create change in your life. According to Lena Stevens, this month is about pulling the plug and resetting. Many of us have led lives that are based on autopilot. We do things automatically without even thinking about it. I will pose a challenge to those out there reading this newsletter this month. What are some things that you are doing out of habit? Can you bring awareness to what is in your life that no longer serves you, so you can make room for some of the things you want to manifest in your life?
When I think about my plans for the future, it often feels like I am encountering a great resistance. One of the things I am reminded of is a salmon swimming upstream. A salmon has traditionally meant wisdom. The Celtic people had salmon in their sacred waters of their mythology. In order to reproduce, the salmon of North America have it ingrained in them to go through many challenges (bears, swimming up strong currents of rivers, etc.) in order to get to their reproductive sites. What I pull from that is the incredible resilience the salmon go through - the sacrifice of losing many along the way just so the strongest can survive to get to the breeding ground. They do this by sheer numbers, year after year - and that's how their species survives. The main question I turn around to ask the reader - are you the salmon that dies along the way because you're carrying too many things with you? Or are you the salmon that is able to keep that birthing ground in focus and be able to manifest what you need in this life?
And even if you are not the salmon in the river, there is definitely a lot of chaos that is happening this month. Feel free to grab a hold onto the abundance that is flowing into your life, and let the rest melt away. Take the time to notice, be aware, and then ground/center. Many changes are afoot, but the only feet we need to worry about are our own, and the impact we have on others as we are given the next steps to move forward. Blessings for your month of August.

BIG ANNOUNCEMENT!
As you might have noticed, the newsletter is a few days behind from being sent out on the first. I've been swamped with a few extra things on my plate. I will be updating the calendar when I get back from the Sundance at the Rosebud Reservation in South Dakota, so feel free to pay attention to the Facebook or the Meetup. Both of them will have up to date information and will be updated when I get the confirmations.
That being said, Eagle Therapies is going to be moving a majority of our events to the Intuitive Wellness Center! We are excited for this change, and we give great gratitude to Sticks and Stones for being able to host the events at their location since January. For a little transparency, some of it has been done to accommodate for the long distances some members have been driving in order to get to the events. While for some the new location is further away, for others it is a welcome gesture. Another reason is because Sticks and Stones is such a homey place that many people choose to stay and chat either before, after or during. This is not a bad thing, and has been wonderful to create community! We still encourage people to travel to Sticks and Stones to grab their fix of like minded individuals coming together, as well as to get crystals, herbs, and sacred tools. But admittedly it was getting a little distracting with the store front, and some members of the groups could not concentrate as well while in sacred space. Here at Eagle Therapies, we listen to those that come to the groups, and we strive to make better fits as the need arises, so that all may benefit. We are still choosing to keep the First Friday in Fairfax Drum Circles at Sticks and Stones (since it doesn't matter that people are loud!), but we will also be doing another one in the middle of the month at the Intuitive Wellness Center.
Big changes are coming! We will be finishing out the remaining events in the month of August with Sticks and Stones, and then be making the switch to the Intuitive Wellness Center in September. Here is a short listing of some of the remaining Eagle Therapies events left in August:
Water Ceremony for the Potomac River
The times are changing, and it has been made more apparent that there needs to be more of an understanding of what sacred reciprocity is. In order to live in this world, and walk on this planet at this time - it takes resources. The food that we eat has to be grown, taken care of, then shipped off to the grocery store or restaurant/prepared so we can eat it. We have the gift of running water in this society (in a vast majority of areas), so we can do things like take showers and flush the toilet. There are many things that we take for granted, and the idea is that we should have gratitude for the simple things in life we do have.
One of the concepts to think about is the concept of Ayni. Ayni is a Quechua word from Peru. They describe this philosophy as being able to be in an equal energy exchange with the world around you - recognizing that just to be alive, many other things need to be respected or honored.
Hence why on August 27th, Eagle Therapies will be partnering with Mare Cromwell to hold a Water Ceremony for the Potomac River in Point of Rocks, MD. This ceremony is meant to be a gratitude ceremony, and to give some positive energy to some of the land spirits/natural body of water. This event will be done by love donation, so please bring what little you can so we can continue this sacred reciprocity, hosting events like this in the future.
Lovelight Yoga and Arts Festival
The Lovelight Yoga and Arts Festival is Mid-Atlantic's grooviest yoga and transformational gathering. Think Woodstock meets Yoga, with a dash of playa dust and sprinkle of faerie magic.
In addition to master classes, over 75 different yoga classes will be offered, including: yoga with live music, classes of most major styles, different levels from beginner to advanced, parter yoga, yin and restorative, aerial and acro, meditation, tantra, philosophy, Kundalini, ayurveda, pranayama, and much more.
The Lovelight festival features dozens of Kirtan bands, IDM DJ's, Folk and Jam bands as well as Hula Hoopers, Fire Dancers, Drum Circles, Aerialists and live Painters.
Over 60 workshops feed the mind while an amazing vegan cafeteria and vegetarian food vendors provide high vibrational and nutritious offerings for the body and spirit. Visit the healing village and experience massage, Reikki, vendors, workshops, Thai Yoga and other practices.
Stargazing Galore! Even eclipse viewing!
It's towards the end of Summer, so that means that the skies are going to be lovely, clear, and perfect for stargazing. Especially with the two eclipses coming up this month, wouldn't it be nice to have some idea what you're looking at? Near the cities and busy hub bub, it can be hard to look up at the sky and understand what you're really seeing.
Well you're in luck! The Shenendoah National Parks will be hosting some wonderful events coming up! Two of which, they will have astronomers at so that you can get some hands on experience of seeing different things in the sky and identifying them! The Night Sky Festival has a wonderful plethora of different things to do, such as constellation tours, solar scope viewing, telescope viewing, children's activities, audio-visual presentations, stargazing, hands-on activities, and more! Activities take place in a variety of locations throughout the Park. On Monday the 21st, they will have a couple places to safely view the solar eclipse.
