View this email in your browser
Dear Friends,

Since you have last heard from us there have been many developments in wine country. Beyond the completion of another demanding yet exhilarating harvest, we had the added stress of the tragic wildfires that struck last month.

For those interested in how we were affected specifically, you can read our statement below, but in summary we are definitely among the lucky ones and are doing fine.

Below are some suggestions for bottles to accompany your Thanksgiving dinner, as well as a list of our current releases should you wish to venture deeper into our portfolio for your holiday wine needs.

As always, you can order by visiting our website at www.EmmittScorsone.com or giving us a call. Thank you so much for your continued support - we look forward to seeing you again in wine country soon!

Best Wishes,
Palmer Emmitt & Michael Scorsone

Thanksgiving 3-Pack - $99
Enjoy these three wines that will pair wonderfully with
Thanksgiving dinner for just $99 (regularly $123)

Judge Palmer 2014 Sauvignon Blanc - "Sur les Peaux"
With such a range of dishes on your table, you need a versatile option like this "orange wine" fermented in contact with the grape skins - fresh and crisp but with the texture and body of a red.

Domenica Amato 2009 Pinot Noir - Stuller Vineyard
Pinot noir is a Thanksgiving staple, and bottles with a little bit of age on them fare even better with Turkey than their younger brethren due to the softer tannins and earthy complexity.

Judge Palmer 2016 Malbec - "Nouveau Noir"
We made this "nouveau" style un-oaked red wine with Thanksgiving in mind. It is light, fresh and fruity but with the gorgeous dark color and depth typical of Malbec. Serve it slightly chilled.

Thanksgiving 4-Pack - $149
Add a bottle of Cabernet to the three above and
make it a Four-Pack for $149 (regularly $188)

Judge Palmer 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon - Ellis Alden Vineyard
We know that for many of our fans, a special occasion is not complete without a killer bottle of Cabernet...this intensely flavored and robustly structured wine will definitely put an exclamation point on the evening!

*CLUB MEMBERS: Either of these packs will ship for $1 until

A note on the wine country wildfires:

As you have no doubt heard, harvest was interrupted this year by a series of extreme wildfire events across wine country. The fires erupted in numerous locations across Sonoma, Napa, Mendocino and Lake counties on the night of October 9th and raged for several weeks, ultimately claiming the lives of at least 43 people and burning nearly 9000 structures including nearly two dozen wineries.

We were touched by the outpouring of support from all of you who reached out to see how we were doing. It was definitely a stressful few weeks and we are glad to have the ordeal behind us and report that we were extremely lucky to escape with only very minor effects to our lives and business.

Michael’s home was in the direct path of the Nuns fire, and he was under mandatory evacuation order for much of the first week. Luckily the firefighters were able to fend it off and his home was saved minus the stench of smoke that may take some time and effort to remove.

Our winery in Healdsburg was never seriously threatened and we were able to continue working on fermenting wines despite pockets of smoky air and ash periodically raining down. We had already harvested about 75% of our fruit when the fires started, so all of those wines are completely unaffected.

Two of our grape growing partners suffered some damage in the Tubbs and Pocket fires. In each case, our friends were lucky that their homes on the properties and the vines were spared permanent damage, but smoke taint to the grapes rendered them unusable. For that reason, our production will be down about 15-20% this year from what we had planned. We were able to harvest two other vineyards after the fires which were spared from heavy smoke exposure.

We feel extremely fortunate as we have several friends who have lost their homes and the damage to the communities in Santa Rosa, Glen Ellen and elsewhere is indescribable.

A few of you have asked what you can do to help our friends and neighbors recover from this tragedy. Most importantly, you can come visit wine country! Despite it being back to business as usual for the wine industry, tourism is way down, compounding the economic hardship the fires have wrought across the region.

Additionally if you would like to donate, we've heard from friends directly affected that Redwood Credit Union North Bay Fire Relief is a great option among the many relief efforts that you can find online.
