The Presidents Report
 
Dear Westgaters,
 
Firstly, thank-you to everyone that thought that I deserved another run as president. On a personal note, the club is run by a committee elected by you and as a club, you've chosen some fine people to take over the running for the next 12 months. We’ve a wonderful mix of old and new members and I'm excited by some of the stuff that we have coming up for you.
 
I’d also like to thank Chris and Nixz for a wonderful job of handing over their tech heavy positions. To Stuart (Newsletter), Dan (web with Peggy) and Peter Vinogradoff
 (ordinary member) WELCOME!
 
The AGM was an outstanding success and the curry extravaganza was a veritable feast. Most of the beers on Excalibar were great. We had a very good afternoon and I thank all those that stayed behind to help clean the whole lot up.
 
Congratulations must go to new Brewer of the Year, Mick Fitt. He brewed some outstanding beers this year. However, competition season starts again this month and the slate is clean. We start again.
 
Worthogs had their annual Pale Ale Mania and again, for the second time this year, Westgate was club of show. For a small club, we are punching above our weight. Congratulations to John Kingston, Michael Bowron and Walter Madenbach who all placed and helped secure the win. To all those that entered, thank you. We had several members show up on the day to judge and support the competition and word is that Worthogs were most grateful for the support.
 
Vicbrew isn't that far away and you should be finalising your entries. You should also be thinking about your recipe for the fruit/herb/spice beer and package your Bock for the club’s upcoming competitions.

The beers brewed for the competition at the club can also be entered into the Vicbrew competition.
 
Lastly, at the club AGM, Michael Bowron was inducted into life membership of the club. This decision was discussed at committee level for quite a few months and Michael was a very obvious choice. As an early member of the club, Michael has been front and foremost. He has been everything from member, to president to Newsletter editor. He has been the club’s Vicbrew delegate for many years. Michael has won many awards both at club, state and National level. All without water chemistry!!
 
Michael contributes selflessly, giving his time, expertise in building gadgets, advice on brewing and judging and so much more. He travels to many competitions both as a club representative and as a judge. He has contributed massively not just to Westgate but to the whole Victorian brew scene. It is right and fitting that Michael joins the ranks of life members at Westgate. Congratulations to him and thank-you to his family for the support he receives in these endeavours.
 
This Sunday is our Pale Ale competition.
