Last month, we noted each time we minimize a donation experience, we make turning a profit all the more difficult. Hopefully your response was elevating the interaction with all your donors and deepening the relationship with each of them.

This month, we want to focus on a primary driver for a donor choosing to give to you - convenience. We know the "easy way" is the path most often chosen. So, how do we make it easy for donors to give to us?

As we've shared in our video series on donation motivation, the location(s) of your store(s) makes a huge difference regarding convenience. But opening a new location or moving an existing one is not a task we can do today. Providing exceptional service during the drop off experience is something that can be changed over days or weeks with regular training. Connect With Your Donors


A well placed reminder goes a long way in seeing positive movement. This thought holds true with your donors too.

As we prepare for the start of school, closets are being cleaned out. More people relocate homes in this period too. It's a great time to remind donors of the service you can provide them!

To share a well placed reminder, follow these quick steps.
  1. Collect names and e-mail addresses of known donors (ThriftTrac captures all this information for you. Access it on the menu bar under People > Donors.)
  2. Add the list to your favorite mass e-mail service, like Constant Contact or MailChimp, or do a small scale through your own e-mail client, like Outlook or Gmail.
  3. Borrow content from one of these blog posts to share valuable, need-to-know information. 
  4. List your drop off locations and include a link to schedule a donation pick up.
  5. Hit "Send" and watch your donations increase!
