Celebration in the Park (not the Collab)
11:00am
@ Martha Washington Park!
(
see map below, or use 5799 S. Warsaw St. 98118 in a mapping app)
Rain Location = Collab

This Sunday, John's reflection will continue our theme of Elemental Divinity by looking at the element of Fire. We'll talk about why and how to enter into an experience of intense and prophetic passion, and of losing your ego in communion with the sacred.

Throughout August our 11am Celebrations will be at Martha Washington Park! It's a 5 minute drive from the Collaboratory. Bring a blanket or camping/folding chairs, or just stand. It will be in an accessible spot. The celebrations will be a shorter than normal-- about 45 minutes-- and will have an ecological theme and flair. Stay afterwards to swim, picnic, or play soccer/frisbee/chasey-chasey!

6:30 PM Visioning Meetings this August (no more 4 PM Celebrations)

A lot has gone into the decision to end 4 PM Celebrations and create something new, so please click here to see the not-too-long letter John wrote about this. In brief: we are ending the 4 PM Celebration in order to find the time to step back and explore with excitement how to redirect our energy into something new and sustainable. In place of 4 PM celebrations we'll hold brainstorming sessions on Sundays in August from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM at the Collab, discussing a whole host of future possibilities with a brief meditation/singing at the beginning.

We want your input!
Whether you can be there or not, your voice matters. Here are notes from the August 6th meeting (August 13th notes will be added soon). So far, we have discussed Needs and Assets, and where we see those intersecting. You can add your voice by following the instructions on top of the page once you click the link.

Our draft agenda for this Sunday's meeting (Aug. 20th at 6:30 PM) is:
  • Opening Song & Prayer
  • Review of intersections and connections between needs & strengths from last two weeks
  • What gets in the way of making these connections happen (Obstacles)?
  • Looking at the connections we want to build on, and acknowledging what gets in the way, what might a new initiative(s) look like moving forward?
  • Do you feel drawn to co-lead in any of these? (whatever new initiative we decide on will need a leadership team)
  • Closing Song
Email hannahholtgeerts@gmail.com and john@valleyandmountain.org with input!
V&M is on retreat this week! From Monday morning through Saturday afternoon, Aug.14-19, over 30 V&M'ers have been at Holden Village, an extremely remote spiritual retreat center in the Cascades.

Rev. Neal Sharpe is on call for emergencies requiring pastoral care, as our other staff are in this remote location that has no cell service or wifi access. Reach Neal at 336-263-0145.
Co-Creators Wanted

11am Clean Up Managers is The Clean Up Manager doesn't do all the cleaning solo, they simply announce that we start clean up after the service and it's a team effort. Then they are available to answer questions and direct people who offer to help. This is a crucial job for the Collab as a whole!

Power Point Manager Wanted It is really exciting that we are beginning to use the screens on Sundays for the lyrics! This allows us to create a cultural of looking up when we participate and save paper! We are looking for someone who can dedicate their time during celebration managing the power points which display the lyrics of our songs.

11am Snack Bringers Wanted One of the ways we live into our mission of radical hospitality is providing snacks for folks at the 11am. We all know food is fuel, and gives us energy, so that we can CELEBRATE! We are looking for 3 families to join the snack bringer team. Your family will be assigned one Sunday a month to bring snacks!
*V&M can/will reimburse if you like, you as long as you bring the receipts*

Contact John if you are interested in using your gifts to help co-create celebration in this way.
