Media from around the Basin—August 17, 2017.
The Potomac River Basin Drinking Water Source Protection Partnership is meeting today at ICPRB. The partnership is a coalition of basin water suppliers and state water managers working together to address threats to the sources of our drinking water. The partnership is reviewing and updating its strategic plan and reaching out to other basin water utilities. The group’s areas of interest spills, emerging contaminants such as endocrine disruptor compounds, agricultural inputs, the value of forest cover, and other issues.
The ICPRB’s quarterly business meeting will be held in Rockville, Md., on August 29. The public is invited to attend, but should reserve a space HERE. The agenda includes an update on the Basin-Wide Comprehensive Water Resources Plan and a briefing on a recent resiliency study of the metropolitan Washington drinking water supply.
Many of us will stop what we are doing on Monday afternoon to witness the solar eclipse. If you don’t need to be anywhere else, a local park is a great way to watch. Some parks are holding special events to help the public experience this unusual event. Check out a couple listings in the news clips below.
