Apollo Capsule Brief

August, 2017

A Message from the Principal

Hello fellow Eagles!!!

I would like to start off by saying that I am so excited to be here at Apollo. Over the last few weeks I have met a number of members and students. Over the next few months I would like to extend my reach to families and community members. I have had the opportunity to connect with a couple of our students groups to the extent of racing a girl’s soccer player and one of our football players (I am 2 and 0 so far).
It is my belief that having authentic relationships with those of whom we work with is a key to finding success in schools and in life. It is my hope that this year we will do great work in building positive relationships with one another.
I walked around Apollo today to try and gain some perspective of the building and noticed a theme, “Eagles Soar.” I also noticed a quote written on one of the walls, “Nothing we do changes the past, everything we do changes the future.”
Please also know that I will work hard to support the growth of the entire Apollo family, students staff and community, while helping us create a school culture that exceeds the academic, physical and emotional needs of all.

Respectfully,

Al Johnson

Eagles Sightings

In mid-May, the Great River Regional Library system sent out an e-mail regarding an incredible paid internship that also included paid trips to Washington DC and Chicago. This internship was created by the Public Library Association as part of an introduction to careers in public librarianship. The information was sent to multiple high schools in the area.

I am so honored to announce that the winner of this internship was our own Apollo class of 2017 graduate, Debraha Omot!!!!

Juniors and Seniors who do not have a period one class may request to arrive 15 minutes before their classes begin. A pass can also be requested if Juniors or Seniors do not have a period 7 class. Forms are located in the main office and must be returned to the main office. There is a three day wait before the pass will go into effect. Students are to come to school for the whole day until their passes are granted.

Lunch Account
RevTrak is an online payment processing system.  Lunch fees can be paid through this cashless account. Go to the District's web site and using the Skyward Family Access option under Parent Tools, login to Family Access.

Parking Permits
Parking permits are available in the main office.  The cost is $100.00 per permit.  Parking forms may be picked up in the office and must be COMPLETELY filled out in order to receive a permit.

Designated student parking is in the north lot.  If you do not have a parking permit you will receive a sticker on your window and a second violation may result in your vehicle being towed at your own expense.

Parking permits are dependent on good attendance.  Attendance will be checked and a permit may be revoked without a refund.

Phone calls and messages for Students
In order to minimise classroom distraction, please text your student with message rather than calling the office to leave messages. We can not interrupt class to give students messages.

Appointments for Students
Please send a note with your student in the morning if they are to be excused to leave during school hours for appointments.  Students should bring the note to the office before the first bell to receive their pass to leave class. Other options are to text your student with appointment information and have them bring the message to the office. We will confirm the incoming cell number to your number on file. Email Alicia.Spartz@isd742.org in the Attendance Office with absence information .
