Preparations for AFRINIC -27

In the preceding edition of our e-Newsletter, there were references to NiRA’s preparative activities as the local host for AFRINIC -27. From the concept note released for AFRINIC-27, AFRINIC is “Taking the African Internet to the Next Level through Policy, Collaboration and Education”.  The location for this great event is Lagos State, Nigeria. The website for AFRINIC -27 is up and running, https://meeting.afrinic.net/afrinic-27/

Please register to attend. There are still some details to be placed on the website but these would be made available as the plans are finalized by AFRINIC with NiRA.

Email Marketing
Email marketing according to Wikipedia is the direct sending of a commercial message, typically to a group of people, using email. It could be said that every email sent to a potential or current customer could be considered email marketing. It usually involves using email to send ads, business requests, or solicit sales or donations and is meant to build loyalty, trust, or brand awareness.
Email marketing can also be regarded as the use of Email for marketing. It is a form of direct marketing strategy whereby a marketer or advertiser communicates information to current or potential customers.
Email marketing is one of the easiest ways to grow business online and keep in touch with valuable client(s).

DNSSEC Workshop at ICANN60 in Abu Dhabi, UAE
ICANN60 meeting is scheduled to hold  28th October to 3rd November 2017 at Abu Dhabi, UAE.
The DNSSEC Deployment Initiative and the Internet Society Deploy360 Programme, in cooperation with the ICANN Security and Stability Advisory Committee (SSAC) are planning a DNSSEC Workshop during the ICANN60 meeting.  The DNSSEC Workshop has been a part of ICANN meetings for several years and has provided a forum for both experienced and new people to meet, present and discuss current and future DNSSEC deployments.  For reference, the most recent session was held at the ICANN Policy Forum in Johannesburg, South Africa. Meanwhile there is call for those who want to present and demonstrate their level of DNSSEC implementations at ICANN60.

ICANN61 FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM
ICANN opened the Fellowship program application round for individuals interested in attending ICANN61. The Public Meeting takes place from 10th to 15th March 2018 in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The deadline to apply is 15th September 2017. Successful candidates will be announced on 1st of December 2017 on https://icann.org/.
 
The program seeks out individuals who are interested in, or already engaged in the various aspects of ICANN's work in policymaking, the operation of the Domain Name System, and the security and stability of the global Internet. The goal of the program is to help create a more diverse and a broader base of knowledgeable constituents who can engage in the ICANN multi-stakeholder process and become the new voices of experience in their regions and on the global stage.

COALITION OF MSME STAKEHOLDERS FORUM ON THE REVISED NATIONAL TAX POLICY AND THE IMPLICATION FOR MSMES
The coalition of Micro Small Medium Enterprises (MSME) stakeholders’ forum held on Tuesday, 8th August 2017, at the Federal Institute of Individual Research Oshodi (FIIRO).
 
The meeting organized by the Nigeria Association of Small Medium Enterprises (NASME) gathered members of the coalition committee including, Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NIRA), Nigeria Economic Summit Group, Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria, etc., to discuss the Voluntary Assets and Income Scheme (VAIDS), the revised National Tax Policy and the overall progress of the Tax Advocacy.
