Manufacturing Day Expo & Job Fair

The first Friday of October (Oct 6 this year) is set aside for National Manufacturing Day; a celebration of modern manufacturing meant to inspire the next generation of manufacturers. Thanks to the Southwest Idaho Manufacturers' Alliance (SWI-MA) Idaho will kick off a month of MFG DAY activities on October 3 & 4 at the Ford Idaho Center in Nampa with a VIP Reception, a job fair, and a day-long expo showcasing Idaho manufacturers and the products MADE HERE!
This year's Expo will build on SWIMA’s 2016 event that had 30 exhibitors and more than 500 attendees, including over 350 students.
The 2017 “Made Here!” Expo will include:
- 40+ Exhibitors
- 600+ attendees (including 400+ students)
- Job Fair
- Micron STEM Bus
- College of Southern Idaho Mobile Cheese Manufacturing Lab
- Drones, robots and more
Throughout October, local manufacturers are encouraged to host public tours and events to highlight the variety of opportunity within the manufacturing industry. September 26-27 in Spokane
Join Gene Hamacher and Shelly Gillis of TechHelp and the University of Idaho for the Manufacturing Matters 2017 Expo in Spokane on September 26-27, 2017. Presented by the Greater Spokane Valley Chamber of Commerce, the Manufacturing Matters EXPO features exhibitors from the Inland Northwest’s leading job shops, contract manufacturers, metal suppliers, logistics and freight companies, along with educational breakout sessions and cross-industry networking among the manufacturing, fabrication and engineering industries.

TechHelp Supports Apprenticeship Idaho

As Idaho’s need for skilled workers grows, more and more companies and employees are exploring apprenticeship programs. Apprenticeship Idaho is a statewide initiative led by Idaho's Department of Labor that helps employers develop registered apprenticeship programs as part of their overall talent development strategy. The Program is a collaborative effort among state agencies, workforce training centers, and industry partners. A subject matter expert can assist with the initial set-up of the apprenticeship program and the recruitment of candidates.

Food Safety Workshops September 13-14 - Twin Falls
Food Safety Specialist and Assistant Professor, Jeff Kronenberg, of TechHelp and the University of Idaho will host a One-Day FSPCA Blended Course for Human Food on Wednesday, September 13 and an Internal Auditor Workshop for food processors on Thursday, September 14. Both courses will be at the Hilton Garden Inn in Twin Falls. There are only a few seats left in each course so register ASAP.
