Harris Named Executive Director, Operations

WWFHA is proud to announce the appointment of Zoe M. Harris to the role of WWFHA Executive Director, Operations.

The role includes oversight of strategic and daily operations, such as programming, communications, marketing and promotions, scheduling, event management, vendor and retail management, director and volunteer supervision, as well as Board of Director support.

For the past five years Harris has volunteered for WWFHA in various positions from coaching to serving on the Board of Directors in such roles as vice president, treasurer, and operations. She worked with other volunteers to grow the association in the last few years by 133% and spear-headed such programs as the Honorary Board, Pro-Staff mentoring program, fundraising & marketing campaigns, and special events such as skating with the US National team.

Harris has been involved in hockey operations for the last twenty-five years. She was entered into the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) Hall of Fame in May 2014 for founding the women’s division (2000) and serving as vice president for four year. The ACHA Women's Division also named the annual Player of The Year award in her name for both Women's Division 1 and Division 2.

Harris was an assistant coach and GM for the men's ice hockey team at the University of Washington (1998-2004) where the team tallied a six-year win-loss record of 104-42-1. Her coaching paraphernalia is in the Hockey Hall of Fame for being one of the first women to coach men’s collegiate ice hockey.

Zoë is a native of Barrington, Rhode Island and grew up playing elite soccer, sailing (ranked 10th in the nation in 1985), basketball and softball at the varsity level in high school. She graduated from the University of Maine (1992) with a degree in Mass Communications, where she played for the women’s ice hockey team for four years and served as a team captain. She was awarded the Coaches Award for dedication and hard work on and off the ice for two consecutive years and was invited to the NCAA Senior All-Star game in Providence, RI in 1992.
