Message from Coach Jim
Summer is winding down but swim lessons don't have to!
Our heated indoor pools provide the perfect environment for year round lessons. Keeping skills up, working towards being water safe(r) and maintaining a child's bond with their instructor and the facility is important for success. Swimming isn't just a sport, it contributes to positive social, emotional, and cognitive development. We recommend maintenance lessons year round to keep your kiddos swimming safely and confidently.

~ What are the benefits of swimming throughout the year?

Children who continue to swim throughout the winter are better prepared in the spring and summer to participate in both water sports and casual social gatherings at the pool. They continue to increase their confidence in the water, swim level and improve their overall physical fitness. Most importantly learning to swim is not only a sport but an important life saving skill! Drowning can happen at any time during the year, not just in the summer months.

Congratulations Sailfish Swim Team!

What an incredible summer league season this has been for JMSS Sailfish!  We have made such substantial improvements in just one year.  Just to give an idea, last year we averaged 15 kids a day at practice and this year we averaged over 45!  Last year we had only a handful of boys and girls at the championship meet and this year we had over 30, resulting in a win for the boys, 4th place for the girls, and 2nd overall.

Watch out Dallas Summer Swim League, we are
going for the overall win next year!

Adult Swim Class Success Stories

This has been a remarkable summer for adult beginning swimmers at JMSS.  Many students started from Fear of Water class and continued through Strokes and Deep Water classes. They practiced, kept attending classes and developed a new love of the water and swimming.  This year, over 100 adults realized their dream of swimming and being more water-safe, and had loads of fun doing it!

These swimmers are ready for vacation!

Fun Swim Facts

Employee of the Month

~ The Olympics are swum in a 50 meter or "long course" pool. Pools used by the NCAA and high school swimming programs can be 25 yards to 25 meters. These pools are called short course pools.

~ An Olympic size pool can hold from 700,000 to 850,000 gallons of water. At JMSS our baby/kids pool (20 X 50 ft.) holds 30,000 gallons of water and our developmental pool (30 ft X 25 yds) holds 64,000 gallons of water.

Meet Ashlee Brannam

~ I have been in the swim industry for almost 6 years now. I started out as a lifeguard and swim instructor in San Antonio before moving to JMSS in 2016.

~ My favorite part of being a swim teacher is being able to make an important change in kids’ lives. Even though it is amazing to watch a student confidently swim a full IM, I love my criers even more!
