Visitor arrivals boost for Vietnam in 2Q2017


 
Vietnam tourism continues to enjoy impressive growth with official figures for 2Q2017 reporting almost three million visitor arrivals. China remained the highest traffic-generating market with an increase of 50.4 percent in this period. Korea (ROK) produced a remarkable increase with 61.8 percent year-on-year growth, boosting the country’s share from 14.8 percent in 2Q2016 to 18 percent in 2Q2017. Other source markets including Cambodia (35.9%), Chinese Taipei (23.4%) and Australia (18.2%) also generated more visitors to Vietnam for the period.

Quarterly Tourism Monitor 2017 is now available



The Quarterly Tourism Monitor (QTM) provides a timely quantitative view of inbound travel, by origin markets for all major destinations in Asia Pacific region by quarter, during the calendar year 2017.

Key highlights of QTM 1Q2017:
  • International visitor arrivals (IVAs) to the 29 Asia Pacific destinations that have released first quarter 2017 data showed a combined inbound total of 88.5 million with a growth rate of 5.6 percent over the same period last year
  • South Asia reported a year-on-year growth of 10.8 percent, driven mainly by a gain of IVAs to India (+13.4%)
  • Japan led the pack in Northeast Asia with year-on-year growth of 13.6 percent while Chinese Taipei saw a 10 percent decrease in the same period

PATA India Chapter launches upgraded website


The website was launched at the office of Ministry of Tourism by Joint Secretary Suman Billa in the presence of all Executive Committee members following the 235th EC meeting of PATA India. The updated homepage, loaded with attractive graphics, will soon hyperlink member website to add value to the membership and has a new ‘Members’ section with brief profiles. Read more.

Honing presentation skills with PATA Bangladesh Dhaka University Student Chapter

PATA Bangladesh Dhaka University launches ‘TBiz Planners: Season 2’


‘TBiz Planners’, a tourism business planning competition, was initiated by PATA Bangladesh Dhaka University Students Chapter in 2015, was designed to explore the ideas related to tourism and hospitality industry from the students and develop them into a proper business plan that can be implemented at larger scale. UNWTO launches ‘Travel.Enjoy.Respect’ campaign


The campaign, which will run in various languages and outlets around the world, includes a manual of ‘Tips for a Responsible Traveller’, developed by the World Committee on Tourism Ethics in line with the UNWTO Global Code of Ethics for Tourism. The manual provides travellers with a set of recommendations to help them make responsible choices when travelling and have a positive impact on the destinations they visit. Read more.
