Let's Celebrate
Individual Candidate Reports
NZOIA introduced Individual Candidate Reports for candidates and trainees in 2012. They provided NZOIA with a moderation tool and a record of evidence for attendees achievements. But mostly we thought they would be a valuable service to the attendees. Thinking isn't the same as knowing, so we completed a quick survey of all those members who have attended a NZOIA course over the last year to see if they found the written feedback valuable or not. 95% of the replies were positive! Candidates do appreciate the time and effort that goes into the writing of the ICR's. Check this out:
"Very valuable. Its hard to keep everything in your memory after being given the feedback verbally, and it also meant I had official feedback paperwork to show my employer. The feedback itself was very useful in terms of jogging my memory about what I did and what to do better." |

FAQ
Q: We take our students 'gorging' and 'creeking' what qualification can cover this?
A: The new NZOIA Canyon Leader qualification could cover this activity. We know there are a lot of educational organisations using gorging / creeking as an activity with their students. Sometimes they tack it onto a bush trip, but does Bush 1 really meet their needs? Now you have the opportunity to help develop a qualification that could cover this unique environment. We have had plenty of interest from Tourism Operators to help develop the Canyon Leader, we are still seeking input from the educational sector who take students into low technical gorges. Contact Penny Holland at admin@nzoia.org.nz if you would like to have your say now.
