ILADS 2017 LYME FUNDAMENTALS
Thursday November 9, 2017
7:50 am - 5:30 pm
The Fundamentals of Diagnosing and Treating Tick-borne Illness

Lyme Fundamentals provides an in-depth examination of the basic science, trial and clinical experience evidence pertaining to the diagnosis and treatment of Lyme disease. This meeting highlights ILADS’ current GRADE-based treatment guidelines for the management of known tick bites, erythema migrans, and persistent (chronic) Lyme disease as well as management strategies for other presentations. The concept of evidence-based medicine and shared decision-making are also incorporated into this intensive one-day course. We encourage both novice and experienced medical professionals to attend this session.
  • Understanding the epidemiologic risk factors for contracting Lyme disease
  • Identifying Ixodes scapularis ticks and discuss risk of infection estimates for a known bite, based on an understanding of the literature pertaining to tick attachment times and local infectivity rates
  • Discuss basic facts regarding Borrelia burgdorferi, the bacterial pathogen responsible for the illness
