 Research Focus
  Use-Inspired.  Transformative.  Innovative.

Dear Colleagues,

We are pleased to bring you another edition of the College of Engineering’s Research Focus newsletter. Highlighted are striking research achievements made during the past few months. Through the Summer Research Discussions, there have been numerous exciting research discussions, bringing together faculty across departments, colleges, and disciplines to explore new and ambitious projects on the microbiome, multi-model data fusion, robotics, the Internet of Things, and the networked digital earth, as well as specific programs like EFRI and EFRCs. We thank those who have led and participated in these efforts and are excited to see the results of the discussions.

The 2016 journal publication and conference listings are now posted on the COE website for each department. Of the 564 journal articles, 25 articles were published in a top-ranked publication, including Nature (Purnima Ratilal-Makris), the Journal of the American Chemical Society (Hicham Fenniri), Advanced Materials (Hongli Zhu, Nian Sun, and Nasim Annabi), and Chemical Reviews (Hongli Zhu). We are proud to have so many of you sharing your work and findings in these peer-reviewed outlets, which will not only further the Northeastern name, but also provide a significant impact on the science community.

Looking ahead to the rapidly approaching fall quarter, there will be sessions offered on topics such as planning for an ERC as well as multiple onboarding and refresher sessions about research support. We hope that you will find these sessions impactful and beneficial to your research endeavors. As always, please reach out if you have any suggestions or requests on how the research development team may better support your ambitions.
