 INSPIRED TRAVEL IDEAS
Dear <<First Name>>

Vamizi Island, with a length of 12km and a width of 1.5km, is without a doubt our favorite island off the East Coast of Africa. Protected from development, by 15 years of civil war and a turbulent history, the far-flung northern reaches of Mozambique have remained relatively untouched by tourism with an almost insignificant sprinkling of lodges in the vast Quirimbas Archipelago. Vamizi is so secluded that you would be lucky to see a boat sail by. Vamizi offers a place to kick off your shoes (leave them off for the duration of your stay!), truly have the ocean and powder-white beaches to yourself and just connect with nature (your private butler will make sure that everything else is taken care of).

The lush coastal forest comes replete with Samango Monkeys, some great birding (Green Coucal, Madagascan Bee-eater and Dark-backed Weaver to name a few) a few snakes (we encountered 4 species) and enormous Coconut Crabs!

Given the fact that many destinations that we have dived have been rated as “one of the top ten dive destinations in the world” we didn’t take the website too seriously on this. Given our short stay we only got to dive a few times but this time suspect that whoever gave the review might just be right - the diving was certainly world class with some of the most pristine corals that we have encountered.

The only disappointment was that our time was just too short, we would like to have taken it easy at Vamizi for just a little while longer….

WHY WE LOVE VAMIZI

In 1891, a British-run consortium took control of the northern part of Mozambique and deemed the island of no strategic or commercial interest. For the next 100 years the island remained isolated and undeveloped – allowing the wildlife to flourish, undisturbed by human impact.

Hailed as one of the world’s best diving destinations with Neptune’s Arm dive site taking pride of place.

A wonderful selection of tailormade adventures.

Just six private beach villas that are individually decorated to offer guests their own slice of paradise. Each villa has its own butler, chef, housekeeper and villa host.

If you would like to explore Mozambique with us please don't hesitate to pop us a mail - we would love to assist in setting up the African Island journey of your dreams.

Warm regards from Simon, Jen and the Bellingham team.
