The Resiliency Center: Your Place for Healing, Education & Community in Ambler, PA
Professional Development Series
In addition to the EMDR Training (Now Sold Out!), we are bringing back two of our favorite professional development training programs this April. We offer a relaxed and interactive environment where you will learn and connect with peers. We keep class sizes small, focus on creative and innovative approaches to the work, and provide plenty of opportunities for experiential learning and dialogue.

Cost is only $125, and each program is approved for 6 CEUs for Licensed Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapists, and Professional Counselors. Plan to connect with peers over lunch – and either bring your lunch or order with the group from Zake’s Café.

Call with questions at 215-542-5004 – or visit our website to learn more.  We look forward to sharing the day with you!

Got Meltdowns? Understanding and Increasing Children’s Self-Regulation: A Usable Framework for Parents, Teachers and Clinicians
Friday, 4/1, 9 – 4 pm, Cost: $125
Understanding the psychological dynamics underlying your child’s challenging behaviors is the first step in resolving them. Learning a systematic framework for decreasing tantrums, noncompliance, anxiety, and other challenging behaviors is the second step. In this workshop, Children’s Behavioral Consultant Denise Durkin provides a comprehensive model that offers insight, compassion, and concrete tools that really make a difference for you and your child. The outcomes of this framework include your child feeling more balanced and happy, displaying increased compliance and personal competence.

This workshop will illuminate and address current gaps in serving the whole child by introducing an integrative model for more successfully raising our children: Perception, Approach and Management of Children with Challenging Behaviors: A Foundational Framework for Understanding and Increasing Children’s Self-Regulation. This one-day workshop is for all parents and teachers, as well as for mental health professionals looking to gain insight and tools.  It is appropriate for all who care for children, regardless of setting or level of training.

Mindful Eating is about bringing attention and intention to each meal or snack. By becoming aware of all the sensations that happen while we are eating, including taste, texture, temperature, aroma, and visual presentation, we are able to stay grounded in the present moment.

By learning to eat mindfully, we will begin to eat intuitively. When we eat intuitively, we rely on internal signals such as feeling satisfied or full as opposed to external signals such as a clean plate or reaching the bottom of a snack bag.

Intuitive eating is different from a diet in that it will allow you to learn how to become your own nutrition expert. Instead of being told what to eat, when and how much, you will become the master of your meal. This will lead to feeling empowered instead of frustrated.

Mindful/Intuitive eating is a healthy way of eating for everyone, but can be particularly beneficial for those who suffer from disordered eating, emotional eating or who feel traditional dieting is not the answer for them. Heather is a registered dietitian that promotes a healthy lifestyle and intuitive eating.

She works with adults, children and families. She has an office in Fort Washington and is a preferred provider with both Aetna and Blue Cross.

> Please visit Heather’s website for resources and more information about her, her services, and Intuitive Eating.
