A comfortable sleep for Angel

Angel lives with her family in Hertfordshire. She was born with Rett syndrome, a rare neurological disorder that affects less than 3,000 people in the UK, and means Angel is unable to speak or move around independently. Her family contacted DEMAND looking for help to keep Angel comfortable and injury free while asleep at night. The family couldn’t find a way to prevent Angel from bashing her arms and hands on the hard wooden headboard and metal bars around her bed.

Our team visited Angel and agreed to tailor-make foam padding to fit around the hard headboard. Now the whole family is sleeping soundly, with Angel safe from bumps and bruises and her parents with the peace of mind that their daughter is no longer at risk of injury while she sleeps.

Nelson learns the ropes

This month our workshop team were joined by Nelson Glover on a work experience placement. Throughout the week, he gained a unique insight into DEMAND, helping to produce boccia ramps, seeing first hand the process behind creating a life-enhancing custom made product and using our CNC router to make a moveable noticeboard we’ll use in the workshop to provide a visual reminder of all the work in progress - a necessity since we can be working on upwards of 40 projects at any time!
