Good morning <<First Name>>,

And it starts.  This is the official beginning of our "busy season."  We have many events scheduled between now and the Christmas Party in December.  We're going to need all hands on deck to pull the next couple months off.  Please plug in where you can.    What follows is the agenda for the next couple weeks.

You know this weekend is our Council picnic and a membership drive - right?  Fr Steve has given us the opportunity to address the parish from the altar.  Please be present and visible.  Getting a few new guys is important.  Karrie's put a bunch of work into this.  Let's see if we can get some new men to help us change the world.

Membership Drive, This SATURDAY and SUN

From Our Worthy Advocate, Karrie Illner:

Brothers,  This coming weekend (Aug 19 and 20) at all Masses there will be a pulpit presentation and invitation to the men and their families of St Clements parish to join the K of C Council 7018.  I'm requesting all members and their wives and family to be present in the Narthex after all Masses to talk to prospective members.  We will have the table set up, brochures and information packets available for prospective members.  If you are attending a Mass this weekend, please wear your K of C Shirt and your Name Badge.  If you wish to wear a coat and collared shirt, that fine.  But please, wear your name badge.  If your wife has a name badge, she should wear it.  We are Looking to advertise the council this weekend.  Thanks for your help in this matter.  I will see you in church this next week. I will be there to help out!

God Bless, Cheers
Karrie

Knights Picnic, THIS SUNDAY, Aug 20

Yeah, I know, as if the Membership drive wasn't enough.  Sunday is also our annual Council picnic.  Every year it gets bigger and better.  Please come out and spend some time with your brother Knights.  Since our organization is focused on the family, by all mean, bring them all with you.  I sent everyone a postcard invitation.  (If you didn't get a postcard, let me know and I'll make sure you're added to our list.)

The 2017 event is shaping up to be the best yet.  The Knights will supply the burgers, hotdogs, pop and maybe even a couple beers.  If you’d help us out with a dish to pass that would be fantastic.   If your last name is

A to M – a side dish
N to Z – dessert

Again, please bring your family.  This is a chance for us to spend time together in community.  If it’s been a while since you’ve been to a council event, great!  Come out and see your old friends.  If you’re new to the council or parish, great!  Come make some new friends.  Either way, we got ya’ covered.

Corporate Communion and Installation of Officers

August 26th at the 5 pm Mass, St Clement will host Corporate Communion.  At 6:30 the Installation of Officers ceremony takes place.  All five councils in our district will be at St Clement for these two events.  There will be upwards of 100 brother Knights here.  Please dress appropriately, suit, tie, and jewel.  All elected officers and their wives (and families) are expected to attend.  All members are welcomed.   Joe needs to have a head count.  Dinner will be around 7 pm.

Officers, please respond (via email or phone call) to Joe with your attendance confirmation and the number of people for dinner.  Joe's email -  JSUMINSKI2@YAHOO.COM, Joe's phone number - 586-377-5776

Hey Joe, 2, me and Patti.

See?  How hard was that??   Please do this quickly, we need a headcount for catering.

Pasta Dinner / Peachfest Parking Lot

Amazingly, we talk talking about Peach Festival already.  Seems like summer just started.  We need guys to sign up for helping us with the pasta dinner.  We also have to man the parking lot for several days over labor day weekend.   It's a big job.  The Peach Festival parking lot and pasta dinner bring in a considerable amount of revenue for the Council.  Please consider helping us out for a few hours.

Until next time, Vivat Jesus

BENEFITS NEWS

SEPTEMBER IS LIFE INSURANCE AWARENESS MONTH

Raising Awareness about Life Insurance

Each September since 2003 has been designated as Life Insurance Awareness Month. Like most awareness-raising campaigns, Life Insurance Awareness Month was created because there is an overwhelming lack of understanding of life insurance, its uses, its benefits, and its variations among the general public. Each year, the Life Insurance Market Research Association (LIMRA) puts out the results from a recent survey, and unfortunately, the numbers they report continue to be discouraging.

A recent survey found that more than 75 percent of people polled did not have a personal financial advisor, even though 68 percent of them said their opinion of the current economic conditions was somewhat unfavorable or very unfavorable.

In other words, a majority of those surveyed were uncomfortable with the economy and the uncertainty it brings, yet they did not seek professional assistance. Maybe they spoke with their friends and family. Maybe they hoped the instability would go away on its own. Maybe they did not know to whom to turn.

If you fall into this category, please remember that as a member of the Knights of Columbus, you have a full-time, professional agent you can call your own. My primary responsibility is the care and service of your family’s life insurance, retirement, and long-term care needs. I’ll answer your questions because I want your decisions to be informed ones. I want to help.

Another LIMRA statistic said 43 percent of people did not buy life insurance because they worry about “making the wrong decision.” Talk with me, your agent, and, afterward, you’ll understand that the only wrong decision was not purchasing sooner to protect your family’s future.

I look forward to meeting with each of you to discuss your family’s needs.

- Remo

Spend an hour listening to this beautiful music
One of the nice things about YouTube is they give you suggestions of other things to watch.  While minding my own business today, I came across this suggestion.  Is really been a wonderful addition to my normal listening.  Trust me, give it a whirl.  I am listening to I as I write this newsletter.  It's very relaxing.
