Getting Going
The 2017 - 2018 school year has begun at Laconia Christian Academy...and it's already looking like a fantastic year! Students in Preschool through Grade 6 enjoyed an active, outdoor Field Day event on Thursday, August 31, while the students in Grades 7 through 12 were returning from a two day camping trip retreat in the Ossipee Mountains of New Hampshire. With enthusiasm and pride, the returning students and faculty welcomed a wonderful group of new students and faculty to LCA in the past week. After just four days of school, the school community is standing strong and looking forward to an exciting year.
Starting on Tuesday morning, September 5, 2017, the Route 7 bus service for LCA students who live in Laconia will run on the following schedule:
6:30 South Main St. @ Shang Hi
6:35 - #118 Church Street
6:45 - Weirs Bouldvard @ Evergreen Condo
6:47 - Weirs Boulevard @ 883 Four Seasons Condo
7:02 - Elm Street @ Bell Street
7:10 - #29 Pickerel Pond Rd
7:15 - arrive at Laconia Christian Academy
There is no change to the afternoon bus schedule at this time.
Dual Credit Government Class Begins
The LCA Junior Class will be starting a dual credit class on Monday, September 11, 2017 from 6:00pm to 9:00pm in room H101 in the High School building. The class will be taught by Dean Whiteway, Chancellor of Concord Christian Academy, and will continue through the fall with Monday evening class times. Dual credit is offered by the Lakes Region Community College through their Running Start program.
Upper School Art Teacher Announced
Breaking news for Upper School students: the Studio Art class will begin on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 and will be taught by Katrina Keefe. Martha Aucoin will assisting Ms. Keefe, so the students can look forward to a few fresh faces on campus on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons.
Upper School Soccer
As in years past, the Upper School boys soccer team invites interested students from Grades 6 through 12 to play on the team. Coaches Tracie Bettez and Chris Mogee are looking forward to their first game on Wednesday, September 13, 2017. This will be a home game starting at 3:30pm
Volunteer Days
Laconia Christian Academy is pleased to have a committed network of volunteers to help keep the school running smoothly. The volunteer program, called "Finding Your Fit", or FYF for short, has scheduled two All-Campus Workdays this fall: Saturday September 16, and Saturday October 14, 2017 from 8:00am to 12:00pm. There will be a wide variety of campus activities (indoor and out) that will provide volunteer hours toward the annual goals of 40 to 80 hours per family.
