African Film Weekend:
The African Hero

This annual festival of contemporary film features a selection of the most highly-acclaimed work produced throughout Africa and the diaspora. The 2017 festival is presented by Dr. Kasongo Kapanga of the University of Richmond and guest curator Dr. Aliko Songolo of the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

The IFS offers a program of films expertly curated by University of Richmond faculty with a mission to spark conversation and build bridges through meaningful dialogue. We invite audiences to join moderated post-film discussions and share insight. Free and open to the public, all films are screened in their original language with English subtitles. Unless otherwise noted on the International Film Series webpage, via email or other special announcement, films are shown on Fridays at 3 and 7:30 p.m. and again on Sundays at 7:30 p.m. at the Robins School of Business in Ukrop Auditorium at the University of Richmond:
