After three years of meticulous planning and extensive renovation, Five Wellbeing Spa has opened at 5602 South Nevada Street. Originally built as a family home in 1904, the structure was once the convent for St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
‘Five’ refers to the five elements of water, fire, metal, wood and earth, important in Chinese tradition for bringing balance to one’s existence. A passion project for owner Betsy Abrams, the spa reflects her commitment to creating a space for self-care, nurturing and self-discovery. From the welcoming front porch to the beautiful backyard, Five Wellbeing invites relaxation and reflection. Treatments incorporate cutting edge equipment like a float table, quartz table and relaxation chairs along with luxury linens, robes and amenities. Also on the property is a yoga studio, offering a variety of classes throughout the week.
Folks driving past the Aspen Grove Lifestyle Center may have spotted a new mural on the Santa Fe-facing side of the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema. The mural is the work of Tracy Weil, an artist and Co-Founder of the River North Art District. The work is titled ‘Kebler Pass’, which is home to the largest aspen grove in the West. A public reception for the artist is scheduled at Aspen Grove August 17th from 6-8 pm. Attendees can view more of the artist’s work at a pop-up gallery between the New Balance and SAS shoe shops. A recent article published by Apparel magazine features a good discussion on how retailers need to build “a strategy around the new shopper’s journey”. This includes the fact that to “accommodate the contemporary shopper, retailers must work toward the goal of true omnichannel, seamlessly connecting a network of touchpoints that help guide the shopper toward making a purchase — and increased store sales.”
