Dear <<First Name>>, we hope this finds you well

We feel quite sad with what has happened in Japan and most likely, you feel the same way.

I became really interested in Japanese culture back when I was 19 years old. I was introduced to Macrobiotics, a health-oriented lifestyle philosophy, started by a Japanese man, and based on the principles of Yin & Yang. Everything about it made so much sense to me at the time and so I started integrating other aspects of Japanese culture into my life. I started practicing Aikido, a Japanese form of Martial Arts, started eating with chopsticks while sitting on my knees and chewing my foods at least 50 times per bite. I changed my whole bedroom set that my parents had just bought me for a simple  thin futon I could roll out in the morning and a zen looking lamp. I started taking Japanese language classes and watched every film from Akira Kurosawa.

I made it to Japan in 1999 for a few days and had a wonderful time. I then traveled through Europe for almost 2 years studying at different macrobiotic centers before I made my way into the USA in 2001, right before 9/11. My first job was at a Japanese Macrobiotic Restaurant in Great Barrington, MA and not long ago I was still working at one of the most famous Japanese Macrobiotic restaurants in the country, Souen in Soho, NY.

As you can imagine, I hold a very special place in my heart for the people of Japan. It makes me quite sad to see the news, videos, photographs and cannot even imagine what they are going through these days.

There is not much I can do from here, besides sending them peaceful, healing thoughts and prayers. However, we do have a business and so we have decided to donate 30% of our sales from today and until the end of March. How much can that do? Not sure really, but if every business in USA was to donate even 10% of their profits to help Japan in such difficult times, we like to think that would be a great thing.

To whom are we going to donate 30% of your order?

We have chosen 3 organizations:

Save The Children
Doctors Without Borders
American Red Cross

You can pick 1 out of the three during checkout, right below where your enter the payment information, see image below, that way you can decide where you would like us to donate 30% of your order. If there is one organization in particular that you would like us to have listed, please let us know and we will add it to our list.
