What's new this week?

We are finishing up our first full week of school today! You know what that means, right? HAIR EMERGENCIES ARE AFOOT!

No, I don't go to school, but my whole entire family does. As many of you know, Coach is a driver's ed teacher (God bless him!), so he heads back to work just before Pooh and Tigger head back to school. Pooh is a sophomore this year, and Tigger is a 7th grader.

Pooh has Coach for driver's ed this semester (God bless him!). I've already listened to several stories from Pooh of how much fun they've had in his class, but they haven't actually started driving yet. It will be interesting to see how things change once she gets behind the wheel of the driver's ed car, with Coach hovering over his passenger side brake! I wish I could be a fly on the windshield. The inside of the windshield, of course.

Anywho...I digress.

The time of year has arrived when Pooh and Tigger care about how their hair looks (unlike summer, when their hair receives little to no attention most days, except the rare occasion when we go somewhere besides the creek). So far, we've had no major hair emergencies here, but I know they are coming. I'm prepared. I've braced myself.

Remember this? Yes, that's me and my lifelong best friend, Happy, in our senior year of high school. How did our hair fit in the frame? And boy, do I remember the wars I had with that hair in the mornings like it was yesterday. I wrote a post about it, and other morning hair tragedies, called Morning Hair Parenting. If you ever had a girl child in your life who went to school, including yourself, you'll relate to that post!

Never fear! I have a couple of other posts, which are more relevant to today's times and hair trends, to help you get through the morning hair with minimal work and even less hair damage!

This tool of death needs to come with further instructions!

I provide some, for your learning pleasure, in my post Saving Hair From The Flat Iron. After spending a good 10 years in the beauty industry before the flat iron craze hit the public, I learned a ton about proper flat iron use, and I'm sharing that knowledge with you in the post linked above.

But wait....that's not all! There's more hair knowledge to spread around! Don't you want that "fresh from the salon" feeling?

No, not the itchiness in your collar or the smell of perm fumes in your nose, but the feeling you get when your hair and scalp have just been scrubbed, massaged, and manipulated? The strut you have when you've just been freshly coiffed? I have some super tips for achieving that feeling all by yourself in my post Salon Fresh Hair! Whether you wear your hair with natural waves or smoothed out sleekness, this post is for you.

Of course, there's really no substitute for the true salon experience, so call and make yourself a "back-to-school-and-I'm-stressed-out" appointment. Yes, that's a thing. And it's totally allowed!

How is your back-to-school experience this year? If you're past all that, then these posts should give you a nice chuckle, along with some great hair tips that have nothing to do with school starting. If you're in the throws of it all like I am, then may the force be with you!

Have a fantastic weekend, an even better week, and I'll see you next Friday in your inbox!
