A dark 2 minutes
The last total solar eclipse to cross the entire continental U.S. was 99 years ago. So we're ready for this. The path of totality where the moon will entirely block the sun starts in Oregon and diagonally crosses the country, ending in South Carolina on Aug. 21. I'll be in that 100 percent totality zone. This simulator shows you how much totality you'll experience wherever you are. Another tool shows you a similar simulation. The geographically lucky Carbondale, Illinois, will have peak totality for almost three full minutes!
