The "Unite the Right Rally," organized and filled with white supremacists, neo-Nazis, neo-Confederates, and other members of the Alt-Right, marched together and protested the removal of a Robert E. Lee statue from a local park. The protestors of the Unite the Right Rally were met with crowds of counter-protesters speaking against the rally, and many brawls between the two groups ensued. The violence culminated when a member of the Unite the Right Rally ran his car into a group of counter-protestors, killing one instantly and injuring 19 more. Sierra Leone
Mudslide
At least 21 people are dead after a mudslide occured in the mountainside town of Regent near Sierra Leone's capital, Freetown. A hillside in Regent collapsed early Monday following with heavy rains and leaving many houses covered in mud. Officials say it is too early to give a precise number of casualties. Vice President of Sierra Leone Victor Bockarie Foh said it was "likely that hundreds are lying dead underneath the rubble." Flooding is a common threat in Sierra Leone where unsafe housing is regularly flooded by torrential rains. For example, floods in 2015 killed 10 people and left thousands homeless.
