See that up there? That's my FACE on EW.com. *insert freaking out gif here*

First up, my apologies to be sharing everything with you guys several weeks late--the whole cover reveal was a WHIRLWIND and there just wasn't time for me to drop it into a newsletter timed to the EW.com article. To give you the short version: I am floored, overwhelmed, and so so grateful to HMH for making this happen. This is a literal dream come true: 22-year-old me's dream job was to write for EW, and instead now I'm in it? What is this life?

And so now you can check out my STUNNING, SUPER PURPLE (!!!) cover, and click here to read the first chapter of BRIGHTLY BURNING on EW.com!

Or, if you'd like to see me react to my cover on video, I recorded a breakdown of the whole story for YouTube!

I got my ARCs, too! They are SO SHINY!

HMH debuted my ARCs at YALLFEST last weekend, and it was such a thrill to see everyone posting them in book hauls! I received the box Monday night, and I know it sounds cheesy and unbelievable but seriously: I was SHOCKED at how swank they were! I go into it in detail in this YouTube video, but there are some beautiful finishes on the paperback, and holding them in my hands is so so surreal.

WATCH THIS SPACE for ARC giveaways... I need a bit more planning time to figure out my giveaway strategy, but there will definitely be an opportunity featured in this newsletter! And in the meantime, scroll down for a chance to win a digital chapter sampler!

AMM Round 3 Mentor Picks posted!

Decisions are out for AMM Round 3! It was so, so hard for the mentors to choose, as we had more entries than ever before! Thank you to everyone who applied, and we're so excited to work with all the chosen mentees. Check out the decision list here.

If you weren't chosen or weren't ready in time for Round 3, there will be another round in the Spring of 2018. Watch this space (or my Twitter) for date announcements and details next year!

YouTube Video Roll Call

Here are some of the highlights from my YouTube channel since the last newsletter: If you have any topic requests, drop them in a comment on any video, or tweet me!

While I'm trying to figure out exactly how I'm going to do my ARC giveaways, I have plenty of digital download codes for a chapter sampler of BRIGHTLY BURNING to share! The sampler is for chapters 2-4 (but you can read chapter 1 on EW.com), and can be downloaded in the format of your choice and read wherever you prefer (including Kindle/e-readers).

I'm giving away EIGHT BookShout digital download codes. All you have to do is fill out a quick Google Form, linked below! I'll randomly select 8 winners on November 30.

Since they are digital download codes, this giveaway is 100% international! Anyone can enter!

Introducing: First Officer Iris Xiao

JANE EYRE analog: Mrs. Fairfax
Age: 42
Ship of Origin: The Rochester (American, private)
Likes: Running an orderly ship, cats, Russian gentlemen, the Fairfax family
Dislikes: Airs and graces, drama, meat

Xiao is the First Officer onboard the Rochester, and essentially runs the show, given how often Hugo is away. She's firm and a bit reserved, but also acts as a surrogate mother figure for everyone, especially Hugo and Stella. The Xi in Xiao is pronounced with a "sh" sound, and the full surname like the first half of the word "shower." She is Chinese American and fluent in Mandarin, English and French.

FOR...
NaNoWriMo

An unusual resource this month, but hopefully helpful to those of you doing NaNoWriMo and looking for a last spurt of inspiration to finish! Or if you're doing NaNo but have no hope of hitting 50K (like ME!), this will help you get words, and any words are good words!

Here are just a few authors/accounts who have been hosting word sprints on Twitter this month! Watch their feeds for more opportunities to sprint!
Write like the wind, everyone! I believe in you! :D

I adore thrillers, especially psychological thrillers, and I'm FASCINATED by true crime stories, especially those involving young people. Kara Thomas's Little Monsters is an amalgamation of all these things, and I tore through it. It NAILS a creepy/ominous/claustrophobic tone, and I could *feel* the cold, dreary small-townness of Wisconsin. It was like I was there. I was also impressed with the impeccable execution of YA/teenage tone--the characters felt like real teenagers, particularly a certain type of teenage girl. Little Monsters truly earns the comparison I've heard, which is that Kara Thomas is like Gillian Flynn for YA.
