Dear Friends,
The CYNESA Secretariat has been abuzz with activity in the last few weeks, preparing for our second Summit, and the United Nations Environment Assembly. The Summit brings together 30 CYNESA team leaders from all our 8 chapters; Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Rwanda, Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo and hosts Kenya, from 22nd to 27th November. In focus, will be the role of young people in wildlife conservation in Africa, in the context of the encyclical Laudato Si’. A smaller CYNESA delegation will participate in the 3rd session of the United Nations Environment Assembly, whose theme is “Towards a Pollution-free planet”. We will definitely be keeping you posted on these important events, and request for your prayers that they may be a success.
In the meantime, and as you will read in the pieces presented in this edition of the CYNESA E-newsletter, our chapters continue to be vibrant, as they live out our mission, as embodied in our rallying call, “Young Catholics in Africa, Caring for Creation!”. Happy reading! Laudato Si’!.
Allen Ottaro,
Founding Executive Director, CYNESA.
