  • Thanks to our partners

Dear guests, partners and supporters,

One month ago, from October 1-7, Solidarity Water Europe organized the 14th European Youth Parliament for Water, on Water and Peace.

The week we spent together will always be a memorable experience for all of us. Your knowledge, expertise and support made an immeasurable contribution to the quality of the event.

Our young Parliamentarians are now putting knowledge into practice in their home countries. Over the coming months they will develop and implement water awareness projects, and Solidarity Water Europe will continue to support them.

Thank you once again. We hope to work together in the future.

Meet the presidency

The president and two vice presidents of the 14th parliament were elected on October 6. Over their one year term, they will represent the Parliament and SWE at international conferences and event and promote Parliamentarians' initiatives. A permanent seat on ISW-SWE's Board of Directors is reserved for the President.

Victor Macé

president, France

Victor first woke up to environmental challenges thanks to an inspiring and active geography teacher. Two years ago he started to take action in the water sector when he was elected president of the Artois-Picardie Basin Youth Parliament. Fresh from a stint representing the ISW-SWE movement at COP23 last week in Bonn, Victor is excited to lead the Parliament into the post-Paris Agreement era.

Arvesa Llolluni

vice president, Kosovo

Arvesa has been active with the European Youth Parliaments for Water since 2014, and represented the Parliament at the World Water Forum in Seoul two years ago. She has leveraged funding to aid SOS Children's Villages in her home country of Kosovo. As a member of the AUK Charity Club, she gives weekly English and mathematics lessons to underprivileged children. She is pursuing a degree in public policy and management with a minor in international law at the Rochester Institute of Technology's Kosovo branch.

Ellen Vervaeke

vice president, Belgium

Ellen joined GoodPlanet Belgium, a sustainable development advocacy organization, when still a communications student. Her interest in water began when she took part in a project to inform high school students about the River Scheldt. She is excited to use her term as vice president to inform and communicate about water, continue the work on the Parliement's website began by former president Claire Pace. She is a graduate of the Universitat Leuven.

What comes next?

Delegates adopted a Collective Commitment for Water and Peace at the conclusion of the Parliament. Now back in their home countries, they will work to put its recommendations into practice with concrete projects aimed at creating a local consciousness on water issues. With the generous assistance of one of our partners, we will be offered a limited number of grants to select projects. More news to come in the following weeks and months.

Thanks to our partners

The 14th European Youth Parliament for Water would not have been possible without our local coordinators, the Fondazione Opera Campana dei Caduti and the Comune di Rovereto. Thank you also to our partners, Gruppo Dolomiti Energia, and ITAS Assicurazioni. We would also like to extend our sincerent thanks to the founding partners, the Government of Switzerland (SDC) and the Agence de l’eau Artois-Picardie, for their generous support.
