Our inaugural Producers Club Salon takes place next Tuesday November 21 at the iconic Arizona Inn, with special guest Brenda Kelly Grant, Vice President Talent and Casting, ABC Entertainment. To attend, you'll first need to be a member of our new Hanson Film Institute Producers Club.
In a first-time partnership, the Hanson Film Institute joins with the University of Arizona Museum of Art to bring to Tucson EXHIBITION ON SCREEN, a series of films providing a cinematic immersion into the world’s best-loved art via behind-the-scenes access to some of the most acclaimed art exhibitions in the world. We're proud of filmmaker Stacy Howard (Diné) on the fabulously successful Canadian premiere of her short film Amásání at the October 2017 edition of ImagineNATIVE, the largest indigenous film festival in the world. The Hanson Film Institute is delighted to have provided support and helped to launch this talented emerging filmmaker. Amásání will screen at additional film festivals across North America in the coming months. Congratulations, Stacy! 🌟
In October 2017, the Hanson Film Institute presented the World Premiere of Off the Street. The 1968 film about a summer art camp that changed lives finally had its premiere nearly 50 years after it was made. The screening was followed by a conversation about race relations and art education featuring Off the Street filmmaker Jere Michael and the youngest art camp participant - now internationally renowned artist - Bernard Stanley Hoyes. Listen to Mark McLemore's uplifting interview with Jere and Bernard for AZPM's Arizona Spotlight here. Following Hanson's World Premiere of this long-dormant, incredibly timely film, Off the Street will screen at other venues across the country in 2018.
