Touring Melbourne, Hobart and Sydney this year, Affinity Collective's AFFINE TERRITORIES program presents string quartets by Pavel Haas, a composer who died in Auschwitz, and Leoš Janácek, his teacher and mentor. Affine Territories explores music's ability to embrace differences. The Collective will be joined by Australian Chamber Orchestra's Ike See as guest first violin for the concert series.

KLEZMER DANCE IN MELBOURNE
with Klezmeritis, Bohemian Nights and Audrey Fine at the Kadimah Jewish Cultural Centre

After five successful years at the annual Boîte Klezmer Gypsy Dance in Northcote, band leader and violinist Ernie Gruner is bringing his signature klezmer line and circle dances back to the Kadimah, Australia’s beating heart of Yiddish culture.
 
With musicians from his bands Klezmeritis and Bohemian Nights, Gruner joins forces with expert dance caller Audrey Fine to invite audiences on to the floor to learn the steps and rhythms to irresistible traditional Yiddish and gypsy folk tunes. Dancers of all ages and stages are welcome. Experienced dancers and beginners alike will be lured into the mix of music, fun and movement.
