Grant Update

We have recently awarded a grant to Lion Guardians in Amboseli, to fund the Lion Identification Network of Collaborators (LINC), a platform developed to identify lions across East Africa. Click here to learn more about LINC. We have also awarded small grants to Tsavo Trust and Kitirua Conservancy in Amboseli.

Current grant recipient the Maasai Mara Wildlife Conservancies Association (MMWCA) has achieved a number of key milestones as part of a three-year grant to support the development of the conservancy movement. Milestones include the creation of a comprehensive business and roll-out plan, which is now being implemented; the establishment of the Greater Mara Management Ltd as a single management body for the conservancies; and a livestock management plan, conditionally agreed by conservancy landowners. This initiative will result in more equitable benefit sharing between landowners across participating conservancies in the Mara.

We are now entering a critical phase of program development and are working hard to identify additional co-funding partners. To support this ground-breaking program, contact Daniel Sopia, CEO of MMWCA.

Partnership with Sarah Edwards

We are delighted to announce our brand new partnership with artist Sarah Edwards. Sarah is passionate about conservation and is donating 15% of all her art sales, plus four original pieces for our upcoming auction.

Intern Notes...

At Kenya Wildlife Trust, we continue to build capacity among students and young graduates. One of our recent interns, Emily Madsen, has recently passed her MSc from the Zoological Society of London & Royal Veterinary College with merit.

Message from our CEO

The past few months have been exciting and action-packed for the Kenya Wildlife Trust team.

From fundraising in the USA to grant-making and recruiting our new Mara Predator Conservation Programme Director, we have been focused on driving forward the implementation of our Strategic Plan 2016-20.

Our fantastic group of donors has enabled us to continue awarding grants and scholarships to outstanding initiatives and promising young people, and we are excited to see their impact over the coming months and years.

Finally, to all of our American friends - on behalf of the Kenya Wildlife Trust team, I wish you a very Happy Thanksgiving. Thank you so much for supporting our work so generously this year - we wouldn't be here without you.

Lucy Morgan Warmest Wishes,

Lucy Russell
