Make Yourself Into A Maker Site

Learning Space Declutter Challenge

A few things to share with you as you continue your journey to spruce up your learning spaces and experiment with infusing maker culture into your learning spaces.

Dr. Bob Dillon reminded us during the Skype call that one of the key things to help your learning spaces is to eliminate clutter that does not prove essential to the current learning.

This month(November is almost over) challenge yourself to remove 10 items from your space. Take pictures and share to the Google Photo Album so we can be inspired to take action in case we are scared and need some motivation!

Check out images and reflection from the first workshop

Here is a Google Photo Album of work that took place over 2 days of the Make Yourself Into A Maker Workshop: Builds 1-3

Here is my reflection of the first successful workshop:
Educators Can Make Engaging Learning If You Just Let Them!

Real World Problems

In the workshop we discussed how we don't need to invent new problems because there are plenty of real world problems that need solutions. While reading the paper this week I found a few articles in our very slim QC Times newspaper. Maybe these provide a spark to a new idea.

If you come across an idea feel free to load it up to our #maker9 newspaper shared Google Photo Album so others can be motivated to use an idea. You never know when the lightbulb can go off!
I have challenged the educator who created this cardboard design to apply for the Instructables LED Design Challenge

For those that took the workshop be sure to submit your PVC design to the PVC contest because it would be awesome if one of us wins!

I will be posting my little PVC tree this weekend!

These contests are great for students and for you to submit to learn how to share and to possibly win some cool prizes.

3D Design Contest

In my 212 STEAM Labs classes I have students submitting designs for the Vectary XMas challenge where they are giving away 3 3D printers.

This is a great opportunity for your students to learn how to submit work. You don't need a printer to enter, but you just might win one!

Last Nuggets of Awesome!

Don't forget Instructables has a page for educators

The week after Thanksgiving I will be posting our first creative challenge in the series. Have your tubs ready and thinking caps screwed on tight because it is the beginning of some awesome making.

Until next time, keep making a positive ripple in the lives of students!

Happy to help.
