Jeff Beck is now a government-affairs manager at the Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers, which represents nearly 80 percent of U.S. car and light-truck sales. Beck had worked for Smith since 2015, most recently as press secretary. The Auto Alliance, whose members include Ford, General Motors and Toyota, is on track to spend more than $9 million on lobbying this year.
