Film update

As you can see from the two tasters at the top and bottom of this email, BAFTA Lifetime Achievement Award winning director Peter Armstrong has been doing some exceptional early work on the film.

He has now completed the first round of filming and retreated to his studio to work on the footage, take stock, and plan for the next phase towards the final film.

Peter is seeking to work in true Fleming-fashion, integrating insights and input from as many as possible, especially those who know Fleming's work well.

Reviews

Snippets from the latest of the 50+ reviews the books have received so far:

"A combination of wit and wisdom that often makes his writing soar ... Opens some doors that few economists, political leaders and advocacy organizations dare to walk through ... Must-read and important ... Fun ... Deserves the type of rabid fans who cherish the books of someone like Christopher Alexander ... Completely lost in the labyrinth of my new cathedral, Lean Logic."

The official page for the books has at-a-glance summaries of all the reviews to date, videos from the launch events (and of David Fleming), links to the best places to buy the books and much more.

'I'm reading the chapter on "Slack Employment" while eating a banana, sitting right next to the circle of banana trees in my front yard, which were mostly destroyed by Hurricane Irma.'

"While democracy has advanced, the part we ordinary citizens have played in the making and sustaining of the places and communities we live in has diminished. Never has so much been decided for so many by so few."

"Forward movement is not helpful if what is needed is a change of direction.

"David Fleming was a walking encyclopedia of ecological knowledge and wisdom. His brilliance, good humour, and deep insight were legendary and unforgettable.

His writing, too, was of the highest calibre—witty, entertaining, profound, informative, and transformative. These books of his give us the opportunity to savour the great treasure that was his mind.

To read them is to gain a superb education in ecology from one of the greatest masters in the field.

"A splendid smorgasbord, Lean Logic provides rare insight into some of the key issues of our time!

Fleming's underlying vision of a future founded in a reclaimed richness of community, culture, and conversation is both heartening and timely.
