Dear <<First Name>> <<Last Name>>,

Our Josephite Catholic School

Special Catholic Character:

The special feast day of Christ the King on Sunday 26th November marks the end of ‘ordinary time’ in the church calendar. The following Sunday (3rd December) is the start of the advent season as we prepare for Christmas.

During the feast of Christ the King we are reminded that Christ is the Almighty Saviour who gave us life.

As Christ the King is the name of our wonderful school, we will celebrate as a faith community on Thursday  23rd November.
The day will commence with the celebration of the Eucharist in the Parish Church at 9am.

You are encouraged to join us on this special day.

The Church really IS the Mystical Body of the Risen Christ.
That Body is inseparably joined to the Head.
Jesus Christ is alive, he has been raised, and he continues His redemptive mission now through the Church, of which we are members.
As we choose to actually live our lives liturgically, not just go through the motions, we can move through life in the flow of the liturgical calendar.
We can experience the deeper mystery and meaning of life, now made New in Jesus Christ, the One who is the Way, the Truth and the Life. (John 14:6,7) Jesus Christ is King! Jesus Christ is meant to become the Lord of our whole lives, and inform the very pattern of how we live them.

Safety at the School Gate
The school is aware that there are some ‘cheeky’ drivers using the school entrance as a thoroughfare in the mornings to avoid traffic congestion at the busy Maioro Street and Richardson Road intersection. We know there are safety concerns for our staff and families and we do not want to risk any accidents.
We have been in direct contact with the Police, Auckland Transport and NZTA. The Police have stated that the drivers are not doing anything illegal and have suggested some prominent signage to deter u-turns in the school driveway.
We would like to see signage on the roadside to advise drivers that there is to be no right turn into the driveway unless on official school business. This would be work of Auckland Transport and/or NZTA who have yet to respond to the concerns the school has lodged.
We will keep you posted of any further developments as health and safety are really important to all of us here at CTK.
CONSTRUCTION OF MOTORWAY SLIP-ROAD ON SCHOOL BOUNDARY:
You will have noticed lots of construction work near the school boundary. This is to create a motorway slip road allowing a free left-turn. This will have an impact on the location of the footpath and the systems for crossing roads at the intersection. This work is due for completion at the beginning of 2018. Obviously there will be a revised ‘walking school bus’ plan for those students crossing at the intersection.  We will continue to forward any correspondence we receive about this project.
Thank you for your patience.
BOT ELECTIONS
A reminder that nominations MUST be submitted by Friday.
We have two positions vacant. Being a parent representative on the school BOT is a rewarding experience. It provides opportunity to gain valuable insight into school management and governance. The BOT collectively shapes the school’s vision and sets the strategic direction.
We know there are many of you within our parent and whanau community who have so much to offer. Please do take action, and submit your nomination form OR nominate someone you know.
You do need to be at the table to influence decision making – the BOT needs you!
