A second win at Cheltenham for Brillaire Momento, part of a yard double that day. Credit: Gloucestershire Echo

Success breeds success

Dear Friends,

What a month it's been! The sharp-eyed amongst you may note that in our last newsletter David Bishop threw down the gauntlet to Martin to go one better than his previous 2nd place at Cheltenham... a few days later, as we all know, Martin delivered!

Bobble Emerald's win in an eventful race completed a fantastic Cheltenham double for the yard on the first day of The Showcase Meeting, with Brillaire Momento (pictured, above) going from strength to strength having taken the laurels for a second time at the course earlier that day. Race reports and replays to enjoy below.

Don't forget it's just a few days until the Tattersalls November Sale at Cheltenham - if you would like to attend don't hesitate to get in touch.

And, as ever, give us a call if you'd like to discuss any aspect of ownership or arrange a visit to view any of the new arrivals.

Brilliant Brillaire does it again

Classy Brillaire Momento showed why she went off as even-money favourite with an assured win in the Ballymore Novices Hurdle, the first race of The Showcase meeting at Cheltenham on 27th October.

The six-year-old, ridden by Aidan Coleman, tracked the leaders from early on before pressing for home three out and staying on well after the last. She won in good style keeping the dream alive for the long term aim which would be the David Nicholson Mares’ Race as long as she keeps improving.

We couldn’t be more thrilled for her owners Ollie & Irene Ryan as they are huge supporters of the yard and Irene’s celebrations leading their horse into the Winners’ Enclosure at Jump Racing’s HQ are wonderful and show what owning a winner there really means.

 Bobble makes it a double

Bobble Emerald at 33/1 was a bigger price than we thought he should be as he had won last time out and was in good form. Martin was worried the Handicapper had ruined his chances by putting him up 10lbs for that win. Harry Stock gave him a lovely ride from the front and, although helped by the loose horse interfering with the others more than us up the run-in, he was going away again at the line and deserved to win.

In doing so Bobble gave Harry his precious first Cheltenham winner on only his second ride at the Course. It was no surprise to see plenty of supporters stay whilst the Stewards’ Enquiry was ongoing and a fantastic cheer when the result remained unaltered! Brilliant.

Lingfield the place for Somewhere To Be

STOP PRESS!
A late entry to the newsletter but it's first past the post for Somewhere To Be who showed superior jumping and quicker heels to win the EPDS Racing Welfare Novices' Handicap Chase at
Lingfield yesterday.

The chestnut gelding tracked the leaders for most of the way round before improving four fences out to within two lengths of the leader. He jumped the last looking booked for second place but when galvanised by
Leighton Aspell (having his first ride for the yard) he quickened up to eventually win by a comfortable 4 lengths.

This was his first run over fences and we're absolutely thrilled for owner Zara Tindall for whom he is her first homebred winner and although she couldn't be there yesterday, was straight on the phone and was understandably very excited.  Zara is also an Ambassador for our
Martin Keighley Racing Club and a great friend and supporter of the yard.

Yard improvements continue

Part of our ongoing commitment to further enhancing the yard is our 50-point improvement plan. We've invested heavily in our surfaces and thanks to sponsor Leisure Ride Group these are showing their worth in recent spells of frost. Many trainers at this time of year lose usage of gallops to cold weather, not us. We've recently added new fibre to the 1 mile synthetic carpet gallop and have recently completed a new sand access walkway.

In addition we've installed new vents to the stabling area and we regularly use a fogging machine which helps us effectively fumigate against any infections or bugs.

Our very smart new horsebox is in the process of being  delivered and we look forward to sharing pictures with you soon.

Five 2 Follow Competition Update

Just to let everyone know, the top five selected horses were Spice Girl, Buckle Street, Brillare Momento, Ballymountain Boy and Lord Condi.  Some of these could well be horses to follow at Cheltenham this weekend.

The current three leaders in the competition are:

1st Belinda’s godparents, Anita and Andrew
2nd our shrewd book-keeper Carole Arnold
3rd following Somewhere To Be's win is Matthew Baker

And Finally...

We just had to share this fabulous work by Harry, who at age 7 has it all worked out. Harry is a pupil at the excellent Temple Guiting Primary school and interestingly 50% of the winners at The Showcase Meeting have children there.

Maybe the Temple Guiting dinner ladies swap extra helpings for tips?
Warmest Regards
Martin, Belinda, Freddie, Harry and all the team at Condicote Stables
