In een fel bezocht kasteel Gravin Jeanne de Merode, tevens gemeentehuis van Westerlo, ging op 30 september de 3^de en laatste tentoonstelling van het jaar van het Internationaal Artistiek Forum IAF van start. Bezoekers in de overvolle inkomhal en zijhal van het kasteel waren er getuigen van een geslaagde namiddag en de start van wat een succesvolle tentoonstelling zou worden.

Burgemeester Guy Van Hirtum en menig Schepen en Gemeenteraadsleden van Westerlo, vertegenwoordigden het Gemeentebestuur. Daarnaast merkten we ook de aanwezigheid op van Agnes Hendrickx en Paul Hermans, respectievelijk voorzitters van de Cultuurraad van Aarschot en Westerlo, alsook diverse afgevaardigden van cultureel-artistieke verenigingen.

In a well-visited castle Countess Jeanne de Merode, now the city hall of Westerlo, the 3^rd and last exhibition of the year of the International Art Forum IAF opened its doors on September 30^th. Visitors in the crowded entrance hall and the side hall of the exhibition witnessed the start of what was to become a successful exhibition.

Mayor Guy Van Hirtum and many aldermen of Westerlo, were present to represent the municipality. We also noticed the presence of Agnes Hendrickx and Paul Hermans, respectively chairmen of the Culture Council of Aarschot and Westerlo, as well as various deputies of cultural-artistic associations.

Tijdens een officiële plechtigheid werden de kunstenaars voorgesteld, van links naar rechts: Co-voorzitter Chr.-Alb. Roggeman, kunstenaar en Attaché Communicatie van het IAF Hans Van Dyck, kunstenaar Anaïn Boving, juweeliste Frieda Mariën, kunstenaar Nanda Neefs, kunstenaar Stefania Jezierska, kunstenaar Nicky Miny, kunstenaar Anita Van Den Bosch en kunstenaar Paula Ceusters.

Voorzitter Dirk Wagemans lichte in zijn speech al een tipje van de sluier op over de activiteiten in 2018, een tentoonstelling rond mode in Kasteel Coloma te Sint-Pieters-Leeuw en een cultureel-artistiek evenement i.s.m. de Ambassade van Suriname te Brussel. Schepen van Internationale Samenwerking Kelly Verboven prees het IAF voor zijn missie om een platform te willen zijn voor opkomende en gevestigde kunstenaars, een plaats van interactie tussen mensen en kunstuitingen van over heel de wereld.

President Dirk Wagemans gave a little preview of the activities planned for a busy 2018 schedule: an exhibition around fashion in Castle Coloma Sint-Pieters-Leeuw and a cultural-artistic collaboration with the Embassy of Suriname in Brussels. Alderman of International Cooperation Kelly Verboven praised the IAF for its mission to be a platform for upcoming and already known artists, a place of interaction between people and art expressions from around the globe.

Burgemeester Guy Van Hirtum, hier samen met Chr.-Alb. Roggeman en Stefania en Bogna Jezierska, kwam iets later aan op de tentoonstelling samen met de rest van zijn Schepencollege en trof een bruisende receptie aan.

Kunstenaar Nicky Miny maakte in Westerlo haar debuut als IAF kunstenaar, haar werk werd erg goed ontvangen door de aanwezige gasten.

Artist Nicky Miny made her debut as an IAF artist during this exhibit, her work was highly appreciated by the audience.

Ook het abstract werk van Nanda Neefs viel erg in de smaak bij de bezoekers. Nanda is al sinds meerdere jaren actief bij het IAF.

The abstract works of Nanda Neefs were also well received by the visitors. Nanda has been a member of the Forum for many years.

Pools kunstenaar Stefania Jezierska, hier met haar werk, wist meteen tijdens de opening 3 van haar werken te verkopen.

Anita Van Den Bosch, midden op de foto, met haar betoverend werk waarin ze moerbeischors, bijenwas en pastel combineert.

Paula Ceusters verraste iedereen met bovenstaand wandtapijt, naast haar andere mooie model en perspectief schilderijen.

De handgemaakte juwelen van Frieda Mariën werden opgesteld tijdens de receptie en gingen vlot van de hand.

The handmade jewelry from Frieda Mariën was set up during the reception and, once again, caught a lot of attention.
