Will the new federal housing strategy solve Vancouver's housing crisis? 

Vancouver, BC, Unceded Coast Salish Territories – The federal government is due to release its long-awaited housing strategy on November 22. 

Will the strategy include enough money to provide housing for Vancouver’s 2138 counted homeless people?

Will the strategy waste taxpayers money on rent supplements in low vacancy rental markets with very weak rent control?

Will the strategy provide enough funds for Vancouver to provide appropriate housing for over 24,000 residents who are homeless or inadequately housed now and about 50,000 who will be homeless or have inadequate housing by 2026? ( See slide 13 of this City of Vancouver report:

Will the strategy provide enough money to actually ensure that all Canadian residents can claim their human right to housing?

About Carnegie Community Action Project
The Carnegie Community Action Project (CCAP) is a project of the board of the Carnegie Community Centre Association. CCAP works mostly on housing, income, and land use issues in the Downtown Eastside (DTES) of Vancouver so that the area can remain a low-income friendly community. CCAP works with English speaking and Chinese speaking DTES residents in speaking out on their own behalf for the changes they would like to see in their neighbourhood.
