Generation Journal:
NaNoWriMo News and... Anyone Excited for Black Friday SALES??!!

Hello all readers!
We are very excited about this newsletter. Why?
Because it is jampacked full of awesome stuff!

Read on for writing updates, delectable book sales, and what to do with your NaNoWriMo insanity...
oh um, we meant tips for surviving NaNoWriMo with your sanity.
We mentioned in the last newsletter that some of our authors were going to participate in 2017's National Novel Writing Month. It is now halfway through this crazy, insane November and about time for an update on how it is going!

Malachi Cyr astonished us all by reaching the grand 50,000 on day 10. Who else can't wait to read this newest epic?!
Better hurry and edit, Malachi. :)
Everyone else is doing wonderfully on their word counts too!
So far our author team has written 155,745 words all together between six new novels in the works!

Above: A few of our authors (plus siblings) hard at work on novels!
This year we wanted to have local Write-Ins with the Generation Rising authors who are doing NaNoWriMo. We have officially succeeded in meeting twice! But hopefully we can squeeze a few more meetings in before the end of the month. ;)

So far this has been a productive blast for us.
If you were ever to take a peek at our numerous Google hangout chats (which we don't advise unless you are a brave soul ready to get dizzy) you will find them overflowing. Brainstorming, nonstop chattering about anything but writing, prayer requests, sporadic burst of writers-block-despair, and a whole lot of encouraging each other to keep going!

Tanner is currently drowning in something called 'college' but has been able to join a few Word Sprints and fit some writing into his busy schedule.
We have enjoyed writing with and encouraging other friends who are participating in NaNoWriMo too, and can't wait to read all y'all's stories!!! Three cheers for you brave people.
Shout out to Word Sprint buddies: Holly, Jonathan, Joel, Pearl, Julia, Allison, Liberty, and Mrs Hubler!
Keep up the good work, writers!

Hopefully we can get everyone in one place sometime soon to write together!
Sometimes things happen that rock our world. We have all had them — the things that come out of nowhere with no 'return' tag. Those things that change the way we look at everything. That change the way we go on from day-to-day. They change what we do, say, and even think. They change how we live our lives.
They change us.

Support Alex Young in his fight against cancer and Lyme.

This summer, our dear friend Alex Young was diagnosed with Lymphoma cancer and Lyme disease.
To support him, Tanner has extended his fundraiser to continue through November, during which all proceeds from sales of The Blue Blur will be donated to help cover Alex's medical treatment.
We hope to match each dollar that is raised through this campaign.
Financial help is very appreciated, but your prayers are priceless! Please pray for Alex and his family as they go through this journey together.
Plead for a miracle.
Want a signed copy of The Twin Arrows or The Treasure Hunt? This is your opportunity! Right now Kate will be sending out signed copies of both her books! Click here to buy yours while supplies last!

These books will be on SALE for Black Friday!

How do we survive NaNoWriMo?

When we tell people that we are participating in a thing called "National Novel Writing Month" which challenges us to write a 50k novel in 30 days, we usually get the same reaction: "You. Are. Crazy."
They are probably right, let's just admit it.
But over the years, seasoned participants have discovered ways to survive NaNoWriMo and finish (slightly) less crazy.

Enjoy three tips from our authors!
"The best way to survive NaNo is to do it with lots of friends and do sprints with them. Change up where you write, and when you have writers block go rollerblading with a brother!"
~Maggie Joy, Christian teen author and word-lover
"It really helps me to leave the internet off until I make more than half my goal for the day. That way when I get online for a sprint, I've already written the first 1k+ for the day." ~Elijah Hubler, avid HiFi writer and musician
"Eat TONS of snacks! We call it "NaNo fuel". Get motivated to write more by rewarding yourself with a snack each time you reach a goal!"
~Malachi Cyr, cookie monster and writer of epics
